Lisa, she's always worked hard at school. What ever amount of time is required to get an A she will put in. I would take her out for the day when she was in HS and the books came along in the car.

Try to get her to do work around the house though. Nothing. She told me once a few years ago that she wasn't born to do house work.

Well, we got some snow and sleet to mess up the roads, Art. It's beastly cold, too - 20 degrees and dropping, and more sleet/snow due tonight. My kids' school is probably closed tomorrow, like everything else is (except the hospital). We'll stay home and drink hot chocolate. Poor hubby will be on call tomorrow.

I worry about the chickens! We'll put a tarp over their house to help insulate it a little.

Congratulations on the watch, Judy! It looks great on your wrist. Enjoy!

Don't know Lisa, going down to 3 one night and 9 another, do you put a light bulb in there for heat? Maybe they need to come in.

We're having spring like weather in Toronto and you're having snow and sleet? Crazy crazy weather. Ahh..the chickens…poor things.. Can you put extra blankets around them? Their eggs are going to come out hard boiled.

My chicken forums keep saying not to worry... but I still do. We'll get a cover set up for them tomorrow. They have extra bedding and food, and I go out a few times a day to change their water. It's funny, but as cold and nasty as it was today they still wanted to be let out to scratch around in the snow. They don't go back into their house until nighttime.

Greg, I have sad news about the bunny... she got out of her hutch one evening and never returned. The door wasn't latched properly. My daughters think she ran away and found another home. I'll let them think that but I think the worst.

I agree....a house bunny does not stand a chance....dogs,cats,cars.....
My bunnies are so use to cats they play together....but ours stay inside all the time.

It was a tough lesson learned for us, Greg. Maybe we should have gotten a different breed but she was not a good indoor pet. She was terribly destructive. We lost an area rug, numerous hardback books, and she damaged much of the furniture from chewing on it, including our leather couch and most of the furniture in my daughter's room. We just couldn't handle her as a house bunny, but making her stay in a cage all day wasn't right, either. I guess some bunnies do more damage than others.

Bunnies are not for everybody and high maintenance also. The one that died a few months ago was like a hurricane....but with time she stopped chewing the baseboards. My last two bunnies are very old and sleep most of the day....given my physical condition when these go I cant take in anymore bunnies....its just to much work for us.

Judy, that watch looks very nice and fits you well! If I had to buy a Submariner one day it would most probably be one with the original design...without a date.

Congratulations!

Lisa, I'm terribly sorry to read about your bunny, I hope your daughters aren't too saddened by its disappearance.

As for the hens, I hope they're not going to be too cold during Winter! It sure can be freezing outside at times.

Sorry to hear about the bunny Lisa. What about getting the girls another pet. A cat doesn't take much looking after.

No more pets. No way. The biggest problem is that the kids will beg and beg for a pet, and promise to care for it, but then they won't do so, and I end up doing it. Another lesson learned.

They weren't sure what to think of the snow this morning, Carl. It was up to their little chicken breasts. I shoveled a path for them so they could hang out in a dry area near the garage, where I set their food and water and laid down a thick layer of straw. They had some warm cornmeal mush and mealworms for breakfast. Mmm-mm good.

I read last night they can tolerate temperatures well below freezing - up to minus 20 F. It's +20 right now. They may stop laying eggs for a while, but that's okay - they transfer that energy into keeping themselves warm.

I swear I keep resizing these pics and they just seem the same size! UGH..sorry they are big…:-( After I resize (on Photobucket), I click the lock to lock it.. Isn't this to lock the new size? Anyway…I'll keep playing with it…eventually I'll get it right.
