I didn't know where else to post this unless I make a thread about favourite commercials, but I love this one. The kids are so cute!

Ok I don't know how to link the video itself, but here is the Youtube link

I was a little surprised she shared the story with me! I also think a lock on the bedroom door is a good thing.

I'm fortunate as well. Been working at the same job for 25 years and looking forward to retiring in 2011. Sometimes that date seems minutes away and some days it feels like another lifetime away.

Then I guess I won't mention the camping trip and scout troop debacle...

Well, let's just say the scout troop got a bit more education about the 'wild life' than they bargained for...

And guys, I'm still sort of wanting the whole story. I mean, were these scouts out exploring at night, or was Pat doin' it in broad daylight right next to the nature trail?

Gee whiz Lisa... I'm trying to be a bit delicate here, to no avail...

Have you ever gone hiking, high up in the mountains, and gone way, way up a little known trail to parts unexplored and little traveled? Hiking farther and farther, you stumble upon a wonderful field, out in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but the sun, birds and wind tickling your every sense? Have you ever looked around and magically felt completely at one with nature, silently conducting its perennial business, ignored and overlooked in the course of our heedless daily lives? Have you ever thought, "Well, it ain't the kitchen table but..."?? Have you ever let your imagination get the best of you and decide that there's a first time for everything and let your inhibitions go?? Have you ever thought, "Nobody will EVER come up this far and... why not"?? Have you ever been discomfited by the vague realization that the sounds of voices and footsteps are invading your consciousness while in the most compromising situation imaginable?? Have you ever seen two people scramble, hide and get dressed in world record time to the chorus of young laughter, shreaks and giggles?? Have you ever listened to an angry yet laughing Scoutmaster attempt to herd his flock the opposite direction with notably mixed results?? Have you ever felt like you wanted to die on the spot???

If your answer is NO to any and all of the above, well you just haven't lived...

Okay! Now we've got the whole story. That's the BEST. Uh, I hope none of those scouts were trying to get their "photography" badge on that outing.

Knock, knock... Mighty quiet in here, or... did I shock folks into silence w/the misadventures of Nature Boy...

BTW, my little story came from an experience many, many years ago... Young and impetuous, what can I say. Now that I'm all growed up and all, my activites have appropriately matured... not

Having a hard time finding interesting threads lately... Don't know why. That said, I guess I'll just post a pic or two shot down at the waterfront...

Have a good evening all...

Hey, Pat. I had been browsing furniture sites and stopped back in to check for new messages before I went to bed. Great pictures! Did you take them?

The escapades of Nature Boy didn't shock me - no, no. But did make me laugh out loud! Reminded me a little of my younger days, too.

And now, I hear a little baby whimpering so I'd better log off and get to her back to sleep, and get a little shuteye myself. Nighty-night!

Well, I think I have been around just long enough to join in the girl's shop talk LOL. It seems I am going to have to go back over the last oh...50-100 pages...to get an idea of what is going on.

As for nature, I am up to my neck in it...landscaping, giving antibiotics to two (not one) injured horses, although I have not had any urge to ahem....um....er....tiptoe through the tulips? LOLOL

i really liked the wooded adventure story, Pat! and the women love it too!and in answer to your question(or someone's question)...the last time I did something like that was in the early 70's..but although the memories are old, they still come alive when I read stories like yours......you know, young kids running around naked in the pond...'communing' with nature, and all that malarkey.
best,
dan

Anybody can join the coffeeshop!
I wondered already if somebody would ever read this whole thread from the beginning? How long would it take?

I'm sorry about the horses! How many do you have?

Mudmistress is on to something - anyone know any publishers who might convert it into a novel?

Well, spent about 5 hours in the yard today... I'm pooped. I let things get a bit out of hand this year. Broken lawn tractor, parts just came in. The grass didn't wait...

Yes I took the pics, Lisa. I live quite close to the water (1/2 mile) and pop down there whenever I get the fancy. It's a target rich place for a photographer. Here's another...

It's a bit grainy but caught at dusk w/the Mt. Rainier looming.

Oscar, I have a Nikon D80. Finally stepped up from a point-n-shoot about 8 mo's ago. I've been shooting pics for most my life. I don't consider myself very good, my brother has the 'gift'. I have managed to learn a few things over the years and, every now and again, I get a winner. I just got a new lens that puts the one I shot the pics above to shame. It's a 60mm f/2.8 Nikkor Micro. Tack sharp and really brings out the best in the camera.

I need to do some more watch shots...

Bubba, I wouldn't sell yourself short. Frankly, from your self effacing descriptions, I was expecting someone much more 'mature' than your pic showed. I'd say your a few years away from the 'Depends' phase of life. Based on your ceaseless wit (and the responses), I would say the women here like you fine...

Well, it's off to feed my growling stomach. Oh yeah, side-bar, I've lost 10 much needed pounds in the last month or so. I'm at a weight I haven't seen in probably 10 years. I'm about 8 lbs. from my 'target weight'. Yippe-kai-yay...

Pat, I don't know much about photography, but your pictures are breathtaking. Old OKC just can't compete for the views.

Congratulations on the weight loss - those 5 hours in the yard no doubt helped burn a few extra calories, too.

As for Joe - he did reveal his age one time. Joe, mind if I tell? Somewhere in the middle-ish 60s, wasn't it? (I think he's just well preserved - pickled - from all the cans of Bud.) That's my secret to youthful good looks, too!

On another note, yesterday my 8 year old returned from a 3 day trip to Baton Rouge with my sister in law. Her first vacation without her parents. They stayed with my sister and her husband and had a great time visiting alligators, touring a bayou, and meeting ghosts at a haunted house. A great time was had, I'm told!
