Lovely picture Art.

Bas…love the pic of the Eiffel tower in the background. :-) I think it looks more magical at night all lit up. :-) Would love to be in Paris! Have fun Bas.

Hope Everyone has a great New Years… Here's hoping 2014 kicks some a$$..

It's pretty cool whens it's lit up.
I was only there for one day, it's a 3.5hour drive from my place, so it's doable as a one day trip.
I visit Paris several times a year so it isn't very special to me anymore. I remember how overwhelming it was when I was there the first few times as a kid, great memories.

Neither city is like Paris. I would go to Ottawa before Detroit. But once you've been to Ottawa, no point going back unless you are going to visit. LOL Ok..my opinion…Ottawa lovers don't bash me!

When I do go through Detroit…I drive fast.

I live pretty central here in the very south of the Netherlands, 4.5 hrs to London, 3.5 hrs to Paris, 2.5 hrs to Amsterdam.
But now I would much rather go to Canada or the States, but that is a bit expensive.

I think overall, living in Europe is expensive. I can speak specifically about Italy but not totally sure about the rest of Europe so please excuse my ignorance. My cousin lives in London and when he came to visit in June thought many things here, especially housing, was cheaper than where he was. It depends on where you want to live of course. :-)

I was actually referring to the trip overseas being quite expensive.

Europe can be pretty expensive indeed, especially Norway, Switzerland and the Netherlands (I don't know about Italy), Taxes are incredibly high.

Im not sure about the trip cost. I know someone going to Italy in a couple weeks and he's paying $850..which isn't bad this time of year. Of course spring (after Easter) and summer mths are much higher.

Carl, I trust this year will bring you opportunities to further your career and how about in the Love/Relationship department? Is the Lady you are seeing currently that special one as in the Lady you see yourself sharing the rest of your life with??? Hmmm.....

Now to tease you, what does "amgreat" mean???

Take care.....Leo

Thank you kindly Leo, we'll see how it goes regarding my profession but relationship-wise I think it's going to go well, I've been with my girlfriend, best friend and life companion for 5 years and a half now and have known her for almost 8 years, therefore I am pretty sure she is the one.

As for amgreat, it just means that I cannot avoid typos to save my life...that m was supposed to be a space...

Carl, good for you as it's not easy finding a Lady to share the rest of your life with but when you do.....and it's forever you have the best of all worlds. I will not put you on the spot about when you plan to propose...as you will know when the time is right.

As for the 'Typo', I know it was one of those 'Thingy's...I just couldn't resist the opportunity to tease you just a little bit. Good luck this year my friend and stay warm up there in "The Great White North"!!!

Take care.....Leo

No worries about teasing me Leo, we're always having such a good time in the Coffeeshop, tease away!

I already have my plan set for when I'll propose to her but it's not going to happen before we get a place for us and when our hectic schedules and lifestyles get better, with school, road trips and the lack of time we have for each other I prefer to give us the time to get things set before planning anything big.

Carl, I do really understand your position and I felt the same about when Pam and I were living together(in sin mind you)while I finished up College first. But does she at least have an idea of your plans for the two of you to be together...as you do not want her to move on before that day comes.....

While still in school and going into my last year, I proposed to Pam over a game of Backgammon that we would be married the next Summer after I had finished school and had a job to help support our lives together. And lucky for me, she said YES and here we are now more than 35 years later!!!

Take care.....Leo

Actually we are planning on living together before getting married (I hope nobody around here will be shocked to read this). We are pretty liberal regarding that and when I'm in Montreal I go at her place (whether it's on the weekend or when I have a longer vacation). We are used to living together but we don't have "our" place yet, when she's done with her studies she'll look for a job closer to where I live (2 hours away from Montreal) so we'll be able to find a much nicer place over there and really live as a couple. When that is done and we're really set we'll think about getting married.

She has no ideas of my plans but she probably knows I have some, I have an idea in mind but who knows, it may change over the years.

Carl, I'm all for 'Living Together' before getting married so this way you can see if you two are really compatible. And you and your Lady will find out if you are when you do live together 24/7. Good luck with your plans with your Lady and sounds to me like you two have a good plan moving forward!!!

Take care.....Leo

Thank you Leo! All I know for now is that we do look forward to living together as we've done it before but only for some months as I had to go back to my other place for my studies. As far as we know those months did help us to figure out how it would be to live together as we're able to mix our routines and to see what the other one was like everyday.

Thank you for the kind words everybody.

Judy and all of you who are struggling with extreme cold this morning (that includes you Art...), I hope you're all safe! Today it's about -20 something Celsius our there but with the wind we feel it as if it was -36! This morning while driving my girlfriend to work we saw a car in front of us who, while trying to change lane on the highway, started sliding from one end to the other of the road. He ended up smashing the side of the road, breaking his left back light, before getting back on tracks and breaking. Good news is, a police officer was right behind us so he took care of him or her, it's a good thing we all kept a safe distance but I'm sure that driver got scared.
