I just got my 1815 chrono today. I’m going to enjoy the black strap for a while before trying something new. For straps Jean Rousseau is good, but I like Camille Fournet more. Both can make pretty much any kind of custom strap imaginable and are the go-to strap makers for all the big brands. For something standard and cheaper I like Molequin which has some really really nice suede straps ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The A. Lange & Söhne Thread - including daily pics...
I tried both of these stunning watches on today. I genuinely love them both and anybody that owns either one of these is a lucky person.
What model does the ALS community prefer?? ![]() ![]()

The 1815 Chrono boutique edition (414.026 in your photo) was met with some surprise when it was introduced, because it represented Lange's return to using the pulsometer scale on the dial. Lange used a pulsometer scale in the original 1815 chronos but then went for the "cleaner" look with their second generation of 1815 chronos, and then they came out with the (very nice, very blue) boutique version in 2015. Most people who've seen this watch in person really like it. Another hugely popular 1815 chrono is the relatively recent WG/black dial version (414.028). Bottom line for me is that these are two very different watches, with very different but equally beautiful movements, and you're unlikely to find solid consensus either way. [Also, anyone who looks at an 1815 Chrono also ought to look at both versions of the the Datograph -- the original and the current Up/Down -- to rule them out.] |

If you think you'll visit NYC post-COVID, then you can physically visit the Jean Rousseau shop to order a strap. I've done this a few times and really enjoyed the experience, including getting the two holes punched on each strap (1 summer/1 winter) after each strap was made, and I love how their straps look and feel on Langes. Attached are buckle-side pics of two JR straps on Langes. I realize these straps are different from your PP Chrono strap, but JR has many different styles and materials in their shop, so you may find something very similar to what you want.

So many of the Lange’s are off beat designs, imbalanced dials...
I prefer the pedestrian designs

The first-generation Grand Lange 1 models had overlapping subdials and never looked quite right to me. Lange redesigned them shortly after they were first introduced. I wonder if those early Grand Lange 1's fit the "golden spiral" or if they broke from it.

The want is strong with this one! No idea how I could ever justify it though :( I keep looking at Lange, so know I will own one at some point...

Test driving the chrono yesterday at the boutique. The RG is the more striking between the two, face and back.
