Verstappon's engine change was also tactical, (Nothing wrong with that) they took it while he was on his penalty start. So you are saying that RBR can use the rules to their advantage but Mercedes can't?

Dont Forget earlier in the season Perez was running P9 while Lewis was ahead with the fastest lap point. RBR purposely pitted Perez who finished outside of the top 10 so he could take the fastest lap point off of Lewis to help Max. RBR sacrificed 2 pts off the constructors to save Max 1 pt from Lewis for a net loss of 1 pt.

It’ll be incredibly stupid of either team to not do whatever it takes strategically to help their driver win the WDC.

Norris so deserved that, so unfortunate. Out qualified Ricardo by over 2 seconds.

You are correct that taking the engine for RBR is tactical, but given they had a 3 spot penalty and Mercedes had never lost a race in Russia... ever... it was the right call. Putting a new engine in Bottas' car when he didn't need one just to put him in front of VER to block Max is an entirely different "interesting tactic".

Regardless, Bottas was no match for Max and at the end of the day McLaren gifted Lewis another win but Max finishing 2nd will put more fear in Toto's head with a point difference of only +2 to Ham but Max with an extra engine for the remainder of the season. RBR neutralized Mercedes today.

Whiny boy? Don't you mean WINNING BOY?

The first EVER 100 x F1 GP WINS.

I don't think it'll ever be surpassed.....with an ICE car.

Well done Sir Lewis.

Bottas' defence?....hmmmmm.

Good drive by Max.

I’m not much of a Norris fan at all despite announcers and seemingly everyone else rooting for him. It may be wrong of me to say because he put in a good drive most of the race honestly, but really enjoyed last moment spun off the track.

With the starting lineup, I didn’t think it would be such a typical finish to it all.

HAM deserves credit.
VER made an even more creditable chase from DFL to P2

I think the last few rain laps were particularly striking.

If Mercedes thought that putting Bottas at the back as top cover was a good tactic, they must have forgotten the reason they are replacing him. He never tried to race Max, yet he finished in 5th position about 6 seconds behind him but his fastest lap was faster than Max's. Seems he was in a sulk and not in the race as a "team player."

He all but waved Max through.

I thought Norris had it in the bag when Lewis pitted, I probably would have stayed out as well. Hard to believe he made up 25 sec in the one lap but that rain really ramped up quickly and those slicks couldn't stand a chance

Both Hamilton and Verstappen have to do it on their own. Their team mates just can’t keep up. It will be a nice 7 races left.

I hated what happened with Norris. I was pulling for him to get the win.

I liked Hamilton, but his whiny attitude over the last couple of years has kind of turned me off to him. I thought he was a great champion for F1 and did a lot as the public face of F1, but I don't like he has politicized his positions. It's rather turned me off to him.

However it plays out I hope to have a great rest of the season!!!

Fantastic race, gutted for Norris but that was his undoing.
Happy for Hamilton to achieve his 100th win which was long overdue.

Hot slicks on wet track is like oil on water. Walled a Ferrari like that once, track temp was 55f. Ah well, a soft mallet and a few well-placed hits and was ready for the next session.

I’m pleased about what happened to Norris. It may have all gone wrong for him, but I suspect he’s won a huge fan base with his approach, he’s certainly got me rooting for him now!

You are kidding right?

Russell getting a (thoroughly deserved) drive with the most dominant team the sport has ever seen?

I’m a bit late to the party but as a huge Hamilton fan who just wants to see him win his 8th title and retire at the very top handing the baton over to the next generation….

I think Russia is the race where Max sealed the WDC. Last place to 2nd must be one of the best damage limitation drives ever! Lady Luck was certainly on his side with the rain but my goodness, engine penalty and 2nd place. That will have frightened Merc!

Going to a concert today and popped up my radar app for weather check. Took me a second to remember why the location was set to Russia. Hahaha

+1-ish

Hamilton is a beast coming from the back of the pack even on hard pass tracks. Max has definitely done it to but not nearly as much.

He’s just racing for himself now, an absolute poor team player.
He didn’t do himself any favours by causing a collision with GR earlier this season although he shouldn’t be racing a Williams for 9th. Let’s not forget he almost compromised Hamilton’s race at Spain I think. I’m so glad he’s gone next season.

Tbf, the collision with GR was GR's fault but you are correct in saying that he shouldn't even have been racing the Williams for 9th.

Also, Mercedes never really showed any faith in him when they constantly kept signing him to 1 y deals. They should've just did a guaranteed 2 year deal with 3rd year optional initially vs the 1 yr deal with optional 2nd year every year he raced for them.

Hammy could be doing an engine swap and start at the back this week rumored.

Cant wait to see the white livery for Red Bull this week! Hope the rain stays away.
