Lisa thanks for saying Im not boring. LOL I have to admit, Im a fun person to be around, I appreciate many forms of humour. Im not sure if your husband will tell you, but nurses are a dirty bunch. Im no daredevil or thrill seeker cause Im afraid of heights and stunted in my childhood by my helicopter mom (only WAY back then they weren't called helicopter moms, but overprotecting ones..) .
I got my hair cut on Saturday and I told my stylist I was concerned I was seeing more grey. He said I had about 5% grey. I should have been happy about that. Then he asked me how old I was and when he found out he chewed me out for being concerned about grey. He's 40 & has no hair. Great stylist though. Here's a pic of me without glasses & my bug eyes. :bang head: If you look at the 11 o'clock position, you can see some grey. Proof I don't dye my hair. LOL I know...so very very very vain. |

Your photo size is fine Judy, maybe depend on what device you are using. But not too big to what people normally post up.
Your eye colour looks the same as mine, green. Pretty. |

I know all about nurses, Judy - don't forget I was a surgical tech for 17 years and I have stories to tell (but I won't... ). That's one of the reasons I'm a bit wary nowadays, being on the other side of the fence, so to speak!
And as far as your gray hair - pffft! You have THREE. I started coloring mine about two years ago, but I had a bit more gray than you do. Unfortunately I was using cheap drugstore color kits and after three of four go-rounds of color my poor hair was really damaged - like straw, and broken and split. So, I decided a year ago to stop with all of the chemicals and just let my hair go as gray as it wants, but be healthier. Almost all of the damaged part has been cut off, and the new growth looks much better. It's pretty gray, but I don't care. |

Lisa...you don't look all that grey to me in your last pic I saw. Maybe in person but looks good on you. I don't want to start dying my hair. Not for the cost, but for the hassle and upkeep. Getting to the hair stylist every 3 mths can be challenging. I forgot you were a surgical tech. Ya..you know us then.
Thanks for the compliments. I wonder sometimes if I want to go through with laser eye surgery. Is expensive for my type of vision. High prescription, astigmatism and presbyopia..its possible but expensive to correct. But the worse my prescription gets, the more expensive my lenses become. I don't know the trade off in terms of cost, Im just afraid to impair my vision. |

I heavily considered laser vision correction. My husband did it and was happy with the results. However, you may have to have it redone after a few years (he says his vision isn't as sharp as it was right after the procedure), and he has ongoing trouble with dry eyes and tolerance to being outdoors. He won't spend time outside on a windy day. Plus, his up-close vision is shot... he has to use magnifier/reading glasses for anything closer than 3 feet to him.
I think the decision hinges on one's expectations. I decided I looked better in glasses - they help camouflage those pesky little wrinkles and tiredness that shows up around the ol' eyes. Plus, eyewear is a fun way to change up your look, though you're right that it can get expensive with a complicated prescription. |

With my recent eye exam and another prescription change, Ive been trying on glasses. I'm not all that happy with what is out there and I keep gravitating to the same style, the one I have presently. I may just put new lenses in my present frame and be done with it. The rational side of me thinks that if I have a chance to have a back up pair then I should just do it since Im pretty blind without my lenses.
I hear that even with laser surgery, you will still need to wear readers. Yesterday was snowing and was frustrating to have my glasses pelted with snow. I couldn't see. Going indoors they get fogged up and again, you can't see. I know Im being a drama queen and I can deal with it as I have been wearing glasses for 33/34 yrs. Sometimes its just frustrating. As my astigmatism gets worse, wearing contacts becomes more of a pain. Ok, I'll shut up now. Im just too bored for my own good and Im wallowing in my own self pity. Im out. Have a great Sunday all.. :-) |

Wes...I just noticed you said our eyes were green. Mine are chameleon-like. Some days more grey, some more blue and that day they looked a bit green. Yours do the same?
Anyone have any wages on the game? I hope you picked the right team. Art...the soldier they did the story on, do you know him or his family? |

I used to get a lot of compliments on them, not so much lately though. Think they are kind of milky and bloodshot these days |

Well I added the butter to my oats this morning and yes, I like it. So butter, dark brown sugar, cinnamon and a little milk. So good.

Art, glad you liked your new oatmeal recipe. The butter just adds a little richness and an extra touch of salt. I'm getting groceries today (before our week of more crappy weather hits) and will pick up a tin of rough cut oats.

How much snow did y'all get? We had about two inches, but Channel 4's saying up to three more tomorrow. I bought some tarps to cover the chicken house with - some more single digit nights in the forecast this week. I even saw -1F for later in the week.

I don't mind the snow...without the ice.....but totally dreading those even colder temps. Hard to keep the ice broken on the ponds and the water troughs etc for the horses & cows. |

I haven't had that kind in years, always get rolled oats. I have always loved oats but most people give me and odd look when I tell them I eat them most mornings. I don't think many people like them. I am going to get some of the rough oats and give them a go. I like cream of wheats too. And grits are ok although I don't hardly ever eat them.

Is there any kind of heating devices you can get for the troughs? I know they make heated bowls for dogs, and chickens, too. |

I just looked at the 7 day forecast and Sat low for Cypress Tx is 19!!!!.....with lows in the low 30's every night this week except tonight is 44.
This winter is just plain brutal for me. I lived in The Woodlands TX back in 89-92 and that winter of 89 it was 7 on my back patio with a highs of 18....and no power or water for 5 days from an ice storm. I think it was right before Christmas like Dec 20-25. Houston can get very cold sometimes an then some winters not even one freeze. |

Greg, my sister recently moved from The Woodlands to near Conroe... she said last winter was so cold she lost all of her citrus trees and tropical plants.

Maybe, but I fret about them somehow knocking around and getting hurt by it, or something catching fire in those close quarters. They generate a lot of body heat, and I think that covering the coop will help enough. They're tough little ladies.

They just showed on the news about that big storm and it looks as if it's starting right south of Oklahoma City.
