for my 30th my other half bought me a coke GMT, and when i first cast eyes on it it brought back an episode of Magnum PI
- does anyone else remember the episode that consisted of perpetual flashbacks to Magnum's childhood memories of his dad. My lasting memory was of the closing shot at his dad's funeral when a pre-pubescent magnum raised his hand to his forehead in a fimal salute to his dad (a serving naval officer I think - hence why they were settled in Hawaii), the over-sized GMT poingnantly dangling form his wrist Isn't that one of the reasons why we like to keep hold of sought after time-pieces - something to pass down to the kids |

I began to be interested in Rolex when I saw the Explorer I.
After that, The Airking. When I discovered the Sub ND, knew was the one for me. |

Sub-C for me. I always wanted a Rolex but never as much as I wanted the Sub-C. The Sub-C made me sell off most of my very large watch collection to own it.

I remember when I was a kid, 3-4 years old. A friend of mine had a bad fake of the GMT. The Rolex crown was bouncing around in the case, but that was my first encounter with the Rolex and to this day I think the pepsi is the essential Rolex.

Started off seeing my father having a 168000 on his wrist in a picture. Now I'm obsessed. The 16610 is my favorite.

The Sub no doubt. Especially when they introduced the green dial, my dream Rolexl! I also liked the TT DJ, which I do own.

Sub Date 16610. I went to buy one from an AD but saw the GMT IIC and fell in love. But I couldn't get the Sub out of my mind and 6 months later, bought that also.

What started me loving the brand was a gold DJ with a black leather strap my father used to wear when I was 12 yo. In 1974 I bought my first Rolex Datejust 16013. After 6 years wearing that model I swiched to Subs until last year when I bought the GMT IIc. Love it!

GMT Pepsi I remember seeing one at a bar in the 1990's I thought it was the most beautiful watch the aluminum bezel glistened in the light...I was in love.
Funny back then I never thought I would ever own a Rolex being a poor grad student it was such an unattainable dream.

When I was a younger, I was around offshore powerboat racing. In the late '70's and early '80's, everyone, I mean everyone associated with the sport was wearing submariners. Some got them because they were wealthy business men and others were men who made their fortunes in less than legal ways. I later worked for a team that won back to back world championships. I now have three subs in my collection. (stainless, two tone, and 18k). The sub is the watch that first caught my eye and I am now one of those guys lucky enough to still be involved in the sport almost 35 years later.
