As for the beans you should definitely check out Dodd Coffee. It’s a local friend of mine who has some serious talent and delivers a mean medium roast.

I'm still new to the pour over brew, I love the rich flavour you get from it, so different from the harsh bitter taste that I associated with coffee.

I don't travel that much and my local coffee shops don't offer pour over coffee. So I'm making it at home, trying coffee from various regions.

Even just a few degrees in temperature or making the coffee finer or coarser has a big impact on taste. Lots of stuff to try!

I enjoy a Chemex pour over in the morning. But for this coffee, I usually grind store bought Eight O'Clock beans. Makes a real good cup.

Pour-over is one of the options available to coffee-lovers.
Along with Espresso machines, Dripolators, Mocha Pots and French-Press it is a good way to experience good coffee in different ways. It is always interesting to put the same bean through a number of different processes and note the difference.
As always though, the most important factor is the freshness and quality of the bean. You can't make good coffee from lousy bean, no matter how talented you are.

Larry, I use a 'lid' from one of those airtight plastic containers on my grinder.
It fits the diameter of the hopper perfectly.
By moving it up and down in the top of the hopper it causes a pressure fluctuation and helps to expel the fine grounds that inevitably collect inside the grinder and produce a stale coffee smell and eventually clog up the mechanics.

Same here, got lazy I use a moccamaster and typically have been using beans from stumptown.

Sadly I don’t have much of a tolerance for caffeine anymore so one small cup in the AM is all I get.
