I think Sterns looked a little too hard at Cartier...

For me it's not as much as me disliking it. It is more that it makes Thierrys statements on not just being the nautilus company a bit disingenuous. Talk about lazy design use the same dial, same strap attachment, same ears. At least do a different stamp pattern like the aquanaut did.

I agree with you on Thierrys statements. Brings me back a few years ago when he said Patek isn't a nautilus company, then goes on to release the tiffany nautilus. I always saw that Tiffany release as the perfect opportunity to bring spotlight to their dress watch collection... but i guess Patek has different ideas.

Not to make this an AP vs PP discussion, but I do appreciate AP's coordinated messaging (i.e. they are all-in on RO) even if it's not to one's taste.

I share your frustration at Stern’s disingenuousness. But let’s hope PP never succumbs to AP’s model of being a one-line brand. PP still has many vibrant and distinct lines.

That to me is what makes it even lazier. Rolex puts everything in an oyster case. AP essentially has 3 cases with the royal oak, concept and code. Patek has so many variations with clou de Paris case, shaped cases, double step lugs, triple step lugs etc etc and they recycle just about everything for this line.

Usually browse the forum without logging in but no photos, so logged in and disappointed with how this looks.

Hopefully people want this instead of a 5167A so that call comes sooner than later, only been waiting 6 years anyway..

Patek are trolling the watch community!

How did the wonky 8 date wheel pass QC?

You don't see the Octo FS on a leather strap that often in pics.... yet since I am a strap whore....

Ok, not quite, yet an Octo FS with Big Date, and PP may as well forget about trying to develop a new ultra-thin movement and 100M WP....

So PP's thicker, lower WP rating.... this new release might be right up Kid Strern's modern PP's territory.

PS: I still have hope that after years of me suggesting it, PP finally up-rates to modern high horology standards and launches their much-anticipated Conneseur Series on mechanical movements.

They don’t feel the need to upgrade to higher standards because their core customer base does not care about such trivial things like WR, power reserve or those stupid pushers all around the case to adjust the calendar.

Exactly. Most of these people probably won't get offered one anyway so easy for them to crap on it. I kinda like it! I want to see it in person but will likely ask for one down the road.

Well, maybe it will be a good choice for a travel watch the first month/year after release because spotters in bars/restaurants will think it is a cheap Alibaba knockoff of a Nautilus and you don’t get robbed.

With time passing after an initial reaction, I just don’t like it. In saying that this will most likely turn into the aquanaut, overly popular.

Is that you, Wei Koh?

Somehow I still can’t believe that Patek will really release the leaked watch.

is this a flex competition or a discussion on design/style coherence and taste? well i own a few PPs and i don't like what i have seen so far cubits-wise. and let me add that i got offered one before the launch and won't accept if it is what we see so far.
influencers will rejoice anyway because it is their livelihood. but since PP does not pay me (other way around) i feel free to say what i think.

interesting comment... VW i don't like but some tudors are better designed (and very likely have better calibers) than the cubitus (what we have seen of it so far).
so i am not a VW guy but surely like tudor!

Just giving a little back to a troll who says I don’t have “taste “ or “judgement” after I posted that I actually like the watch. To each his own. If you don’t like it don’t buy it. No need for 13 or so negative posts lol.

For those saying that "everyone's going to want one" as a retort to others saying they think the watch is ugly is kinda like retorting "well everyone needs to drink water" when someone was arguing "that river looks like it can drown someone."

I'm sure everyone will want one because that's how fandom works. Doesn't matter what it is you are fawning over. You just want it "because...." and that pretty much the only justification a fan needs.

It's kinda like the Black Panther RO. Objectively, a silly watch...literally cartoonish.

It doesn't mean people didn't snapped it up. It's because they could. "Lebron picked one up? Well that's good enough for me."

"Mario Brothers tourbillon? Okay. I'll get one."

I'm sure Patek will sell it's allotment, and of course, tastes differ.

But I cannot say that this is a good looking watch. It's just not there for me.

Wow, this new Kid Stern PP monstrosity has really ruffled some feathers. Controversy is great, makes for more 'headlines'. No such thing as bad press, because even as bad as it is PP is still being discussed here ROFLOL!

None of you know how truly incredible the new Patek Philippe Conneseur Series will be.

Amazing new movements with classic hand-crafted parts and watchmaker decorations even ALS and VC enthusiasts might admire, maybe. But nothing near as good as MB&F, Rexhep Rexhepi, etc of course, so PP still remains upper middle-class horology, not modern very high horology. For that, there will be another PP Series, yet we may be quite a few more years away, if ever, from that.

Relax guys, let's give PP a chance and look forward to seeing the new Patek Philippe Conneseur Series movements in these new timepieces before making 100% final judgment.
