I didn't buy any Bergeon springbar tools yet, I had some but they weren't very good and I always found that using a well sharpened watchmaker's screwdriver did the job very well.

Ok. I did some studying, and did some practicing, and figured that eventually I'll need a jeweler to do what I need for a permanent fix for my little round 9k beauty. However, that said, here's the finished product.

Mikki, looks SO good! I like that watch. :-) Is certainly a conversation piece thats for sure.
The cat looks so cute..very inquisitive. ;-)

LOL @ Wes.

Leo..thank you for starting the bday thread...that was very sweet of you. :-) I appreciated all the kind words. Even you Wes who said happy birthday THREE whole times.

Was a GREAT day. The kids were super excited about their aunts birthday. They had a lot of celebrating this week. My sister in laws bday was Feb 13th and then theres Valentines on the 14th then my birthday today. We have a bit of a rest cause my brothers bday is April. Whew..

I have a pic of my niece in her little Blundstone boots. I have to upload it and post it. SO cute...If anyone wants to buy a little one something different, I would say these boots are it. Cant find them in the mall stores.

Well..Im home, and showered and medicated (sleeping pill..LOL Nothing else)...We're in for an overnight storm of about 10 cm by morning. I hope to be in bed by 11 at the latest and up at 5 to trek in. Hoping the roads are at least drivable. :-(

I never mentioned it earlier, but today was Family Day in Ontario. It is a Provincial holiday and nothing was open but the restaurants and coffee places. Im pleased that the stores remained closed. Would be asinine to have kept the malls open on Family Day.

Judy, you are entirely welcome as it's important to remember friend's Birthdays when I know of them in advance or see the celebration already taking place here on the Forum and I can contribute to the party!!!

Thanks for the lug kudos. It's my first project like this. I think I have a prototype at least for jeweler welding or whatever it is they do. The current join is not so great. Pretty happy with the way they came out.

Judy: Yeah, the cat is amazingly curious. I've caught her digging in open desk drawers, trash cans, etc. Once she pulled everything out of the trash can and tipped it over so she could sleep in it. She spends most days on my husband's desk, pawing at anything that moves (or doesn't).

And in other critter news...why is it always when I can least afford it? One of the dogs had emergency gallbladder surgery, they're doing liver tests to see if that's also involved. The bill is at 4k and climbing. I'm still not getting enough clients, and am still mostly unemployed, so this is not the happiest of days. We're not even sure if the dog is going to be ok. Of course we're hopeful.

Send all your friends to my law firm, will ya?

We spent a little over 3k last week on Gordo and still don't know if he has permanent kidney damage. He seems fine now and is back to his old self at least 75 percent.....still sleeping more than he use to. Vet bills can break you up fast.....between cats and bunnies I don't even want to think about all the money we have spent on them....but what can you do?

Mikki...theres been some devastating news for my cousins husband who was co-managing partner here at a firm called Heenan and Blaike. They originally started in Montreal, branched out to Ontario, across Canada and an office in Paris. A couple weeks ago..the firm shut down! 500 lawyers scrambling for work. Some had already been poached by other law firms but my cousins husband, who is beyond wonderful, has been going in to the office looking for work for the junior staff. My girlfriend who is also a lawyer told me last night that my cousins husbands name has been brought up a lot and that he has been applauded for his loyalty in finding these jobs for his co-workers. I think its commendable and shows his true character. He could have just walked away like the others. Im proud of him. :-) None of what I mention is top secret, its been in the local papers and on the news. Sad really.

I wish you luck on your job search. :-)

Pets sure cost a lot. What about pet insurance? Is it worth it? I never had any for the pets Ive ever had but then I would usually draw the line at something like chemo treatment or surgery.

I think pet insurance is worth it, you never know what will happen and surely you want your beloved animal to be in good health. Vet bills can be incredibly expensive so it always helps.

If surgery has to be done and it can help it I for one would do it provided that he will not be suffering and will still get some sort of a quality life. Speaking for myself, when it comes to things like cancer or other diseases that cannot be cured I would prefer to avoid making my pet suffer for too long. I cannot stand seeing an animal living in constant pain and wouldn't be comfortable letting it suffer just because I don't want to let it go.

Of course, it's only my opinion and I would never put an animal down if I know he lives without pain and has a good life (I've heard of people putting animals down because they were blind, personally I would never do that), however, at some point I'd rather spare him that...

Mikki, Greg, I truly hope your dogs and cats will recover well from their surgeries. Hopefully they'll be perfectly fine after.

I took a couple of snapshots yesterday of the little boots I bought my niece. And the last pic is one of my mother, my father and my nephew playing Legos. My brother is in the background killing himself laughing because they had been at it for some time and were quiet. We figure we should buy my parents a big set.

My brother took the pics with the cake and everyone posing. We had fun. :-)

Was a hectic day at work today. The Cardiovascular surgical unit was the 1st ICU to go live with Order and Medication entry today. Was a bit challenging since the fresh pumps or patients just arriving in the ICU post open heart surgery take time to settle down and make sure they are stable. Some nurses were resentful of the new phase of computer entry and some were ok with it. Eh..they were told they should voluntarily embrace change or they might be having to be convinced from the Chief Nursing Officer. LOL

Ok ya'll...shallow post....any of you coffeeshop kids know what kind of watch Heidi Klum is wearing in this photo? http://www.x17online.com/celebrities...tos_021714.php

I love the wide bracelet! I was afraid to post this out on Open Discussion because it could turn into one of those 'model wearing a watch' threads lol.

Oh MY! I feel awful for those poor people. I'm sure this is not the last you've heard of this, as someone must have known and didn't tell anyone else. Your cousin's husband seems like a wonderful person helping the jr. staff. Kudos to him, and I hope the karma rebounds and rewards him.

Oh do I ever hear you. My favorite cat of forever had lymphoma and I did the chemo for him. He was close to beating it when he got a virus and that was it. I do have a blind dog. He had glaucoma and we tried surgery that usually works, but it failed. Luckily for him, he's adjusted and he doesn't seem to care. It's difficult for visitors to even know he's blind since he knows the house so well and follows his nose.

Bushi the dog is doing very, very well. His liver values are inching towards normal. They did send off a liver biopsy since they weren't certain if it was "just" the gallbladder that they removed. They were concerned because the stones hadn't completely blocked the bile duct, so it confused them. However, given that the liver values are improving dramatically, they feel it likely was the gallbladder. I'm crossing my fingers. The biopsy should come back soon.

re: pet insurance...I wish I'd thought of that when they were young. Re: rabbits, I have a friend who rescues bunnies and man, they can be very expensive. People who think they're just such cute little Easter gifts and so cheap to keep and stuff should be shot. They're loving, caring creatures who don't deserve to be treated as disposable. Sweet things (usually :-)).

My sister does medical tech for the VA hospital in NH and has tons of problems with doctors and nurses who won't do tech without a baseball bat, even when it's going to cut down on mistakes and be better for everyone. She often complains about doctors who can't type and wonders how they got through school in the first place.

I may have to brush up on the basics of cardiac care soon, as my mom had surgery for A-Fib that didn't work. Meantime, a 52 year old friend has to have his mitral valve repaired or replaced, they don't know which. Scary stuff. Thank goodness for highly trained nurses like you.

I knew you would appreciate, Lisa. But really, it's mostly the watch I'm interested in. No, really. The bodyguard is totally secondary.

No they won't. You can always right click on the picture, click on "Copy picture link" and then paste said link in between and (erase the space in both).
