Visited Henri Stern's in NY earlier in the week. Needed to pick up a new brown gator for my 5960. Very nice people.

Also wanted to try a black or gray as a winter change up.

The black didn't work for me and they didn't have a gray. However, they did have a dark blue with light gray stitching. The dye batch on it was gray/blue looking and with the gray stitching it was close enough.

With the blue numbering on the sub plus the gray dial, its a close call. Not 100% sold just yet but here it is.

Any thoughts?

Chris, I think is fun to change straps, it's gives the watch a new look with a simple swap (totally get that). But in general I like to keep the watch as faithful as the original. I like it in the original brown. Maybe is time for the next one

Thanks for the honest opinions. We will see. I tend to agree but hoping it would grow on me. Only worn it once or twice so far. I have a new brown waiting in the wings.

Anyone want to buy a 'slightly' used blue gator?!!

Personally I would only do a blue strap on models with a dominant blue component. Think 5296 Sector dial.
I have seen the grey strap and it is a great look, but as an accent. Your dial being predominantly grey, I think it would be too monochromatic.
I agree with others here who suggest brown is the best looking.
Camille Fournet (Patek's strap maker) can make a matte black strap with grey stitching. Bet that would rock! Check the website:

I started with a 5712/1A nearly six months back.

As of yesterday my Nautilus is not the only PP in the house...

This brand is truly special.
