Just ordered a case of this.
For fellow Pennsylvania people they have it here as a customer special order only for about $26/bottle, including tax and freight. Figured it was too good a price to pass up. Should come in soon.
Also waiting on a case to come in of 13' clos du Val they have at clearance for ~$26. Usually PA sucks on pricing and I go to DE instead, but these seem good to me

When it first came out in Ohio it was $49/bottle. A few months later I was able to find it for $39/bottle. Nice score at $26/bottle!

Enjoying a bottle from Hill Family Estates. It's a red blend from 2015. Not too bad

Simply...The Wine Thread

Got a Box of Mini Champagne from Costco the other day. Perfect for the Wife when she wants a mimosa or single glass of bubbly. They only seem to have them over the holidays. Works out to $10 a bottle.

We love Pinot. I looked for this locally but couldn't find it.

Might have to order from their website.

Which one would you recommend?

Thanks!

Haven't tried these as they just arrived! These are not typical Pinot's.

Maybe Trace can further explain.

I've had several of their wines as have others on this thread!

Highly recommended!

Just picked up three of these bad boys, going to be hard not to pop one soon, but they need at least 7-10 years.

Shouldn't be an issue, never say never but the 12's are just about out of the woods from the rampant plague of the early and mid 00's so I'm reasonably safe, but... you never really know till you pop it.

Speaking of POPING!! Love me me some young MacDonald!! LOL Screagle killer right there!!

My novice pallet enjoyed the quilt. Glad I grabbed some, I’m guessing I’ll be getting more soon too.
We also polished off these tonight with some great Italian food:

Hill family makes some great wines!

We opened a bottle of their Double Barrel not long ago and it was quite good. They make a good Chardonnay as well.

I am continually surprised by how much better almost any wine drinks with an hour or two to breathe.
This should not be a revelation to me at the end of a 45 year wine obsession during which I routinely decanted my wine, but I am constantly reminded.
I usually open a bottle, sample it immediately, and then rest it for an hour or so, and the difference is marked.
Did it yesterday with a 2014 Chardonnay, which initially tasted a bit acid and one dimensional. Two hours later it was a different wine.
Again last night I opened a reasonably priced 2013 Shiraz and decanted it immediately. Two hours later it was so different.
I stopped decanting wine for a couple of decades but I think I am going to go back to this practice as it pays dividends.

We didn’t. We had some neighbors over for a holiday get together and they randomly picked it from the cellar. We weren’t serving it with dinner, which was a good thing as it’s somewhere between a great Zin and a port - sweet with lots of dark red fruit. We had some dark chocolate out as well as some cambozola cheese and crackers and it went well with both of those.
