BREAKING NEWS: Lewis Hamilton will not partake in the next 2 GPs due to human rights abuses by the countries of Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Sorry but that's what the headline should read if there were actually balls on Lewis Hamilton. Talk is cheap and it costs nothing to talk and do nothing.... yet another reason why a lot of people don't respect Hamilton off the track. Right now, Qatar is using slave labor to build stadiums for the 2022 World Cup and has been doing so for years... amongst other human rights abuses. Look it up, there's pages and pages of stories on this and other things. WE RACE AS ONE, LOL.

Interesting, I edited my earlier post asking if the Saud family couldn't find enough indentured servants to build their new track in time. Wonder what the Saud women and daughters are thinking. We should hear from Princess Basmah, the daughter of Saudi Arabia's second king, to hear her thoughts.

He could actually make a tremendous impact and "awareness" if he actually chose to not race. Imagine the worldwide headlines if Lewis Hamilton takes himself out of a championship season in protest for what he actually believes in! But he won't because it's all window dressing. Mohammad Ali at least went to jail for what he believed in and made a lasting impression.

The fish stinks from the head and the F1 organizers who take the money from these countries are duplicitous as they preach "We race as one" and have the ridiculous kneeling ceremony prior to each GP. How are women's rights in these countries? How are gay rights in these countries? Will auto sales of Mercedes, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Honda or Renault be any different if they have a race in Qatar or SA? No.... It's all about the money. I'd respect them more if they keep their mouth shut rather than piss on us and tell us it's raining.

Apologies as it seemed on point as we are introducing 2 all new tracks in the next 2 race weekends and it has had controversy as far as fans are concerned if F1 should even be there. If the moderators deem it to be controversial, please edit as you feel appropriate.

Even just watching the incident on the big screen I would have expected
MV to have been penalised.

Common sense may prevail?

I dislike them both and hoped the Aussie guy would win in the absence of any Scottish drivers.

Let's see how the next two race events play out on the world's stage. There could be some surprises :)

MB’s Right of Review has been disallowed.

Is that what your link was about? When I clicked it, I only got an offer to buy this weekends race stream.

Pretty much. FIA is now basically allowing dive bombing the inside line and not trying to make the turn going forward.

If I had been penalized for every time that I tactically went wide at an apex to defend a position, then I’d never have respect at the next one.

Thanks

I’ll have to wait for the published decision but I’ve said before IMHO, the Stewards at Brazil didn’t review the incident for a good reason.

What we’ll learn from the published decision is if the evidence was not compelling or if the premise was absurd. Methinks the former…everyone has now seen VER’s hands on the wheel and has their own opinion.

You called it 77T, no review just like the one from Silverstone.

FP1 and 2 have the Honda's out front but think the Mercs are saving their engines.

I've watched MotoGP races at this track but in an F1 car the "flatness" seems so featureless.

This is what I thought, too - on a bike I can see one might get into a flow. But hard to imagine how this will work well for wide, long F1 cars.

As for the decision, it just was published about an hour ago…

Now Page 2

Now Page 3

And lastly, Page 4

Only offering in the spirit of communication to help folks see a bit of the consideration that the Stewards undertook.

So, as I understand it, this decision would seem to give MV, or any other driver, carte blanche, to deliberately push a competitor off the track.

Given the current state of the Championship, this gives MV a distinct advantage over his nearest rivals, in that, in any incident that occurs between MV and say LH, the status quo is maintained, giving the incumbent leading points scorer a distinct incentive, to run his opponent off.

One can't help wondering what commercial advantage, is being gained 'behind the scenes' by the taking some of these decisions seemingly against, for example, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team?

Not just Max over Lewis but also Ferrari over McLaren or any other tight race. Basically overtaking on the outside is now going to be really difficult. Always dive bomb the inside line and force the outside guy off the track or yield.

This effectively gives Max the championship. In any close racing, he can punt Lewis off with impunity.

Punt? Ummm, no…

You are not the only one on TRF who has tracked carts, cars and bikes Paul.

Just how ‘tactically wide’ can you go and still have any respect left?

This was not just a slightly wider line it was moving out as far as was required to prevent an overtake.

Would MV have left the track by >5 metres under any other circumstances?

Yes. Very surprised something so simple is swept under the rug. People must really dislike/hate this seven time world champion because there’s really no way anyone can find MV likable by any metric, imo.
His driving etiquette is for a mad max stunt movie and his attitude is blatant self entitlement immaturity.
