Grahame's shop is down here in the West Village, in Manhattan and WAY cool if any of you guys are in the City and looking for something to do during the day. Grahame himself is there frequently, and is a delight to talk to about watches. Plus, the clothes the shop sells are incredibly cool. Lots of Mod AND Rocker gear, and all extremely anglo-centric. Plus he sells NATOs and handmade leather straps (jesus, I sound like I work for him!!) and has a number of watches on display and for sale.

Apologies for low quality image of my 7928/0 II/67

This is my original owner (I bought it in October 1968) 7928/0 II/67 and 7206 I/68 bracelet.

It recently had a full overhaul and a new bezel insert and pearl had to be fitted because the original went over the side in Bass Strait in the 1970 Sydney to Hobart after a particularly nasty knock-down at night.

Also damaged in that race, was an 80 endpiece, which they were unable to source, so a 358 has been substituted in the meantime (some of the original damage to the link can be seen where the final rivet passes through).

It also had to have a new crystal fitted after an ex-girlfriend stamped on it with a stiletto heel (not with malice though ... longish story) back in 1978 damaging it quite badly.

They cleaned the dial (there were strict instructions not to refinish or restore it) but appear to have re-lumed the hands and dots.

They also had to fit a new Trip-lock crown and tube because they were unable to source an original Twin-Lock one.

The photos were taken by the watchmaker that repaired it in Sydney (Australia), but as I'm in Kazakhstan for the foreseeable future, I'm unsure as to when it will be back on my wrist again unfortunately.

Despite all the sailing in salt water it has done with me, there was no sign of corrosion on the case or back one often sees on many Oyster cases and backs, something that has always baffled me, although perhaps because I've always showered in fresh water after, it has held the corrosion at bay.

The only photo of me wearing it is this one from 1970, always worn on my right wrist because of my preference to start on the starboard end of the start line ... apologies for the small faint image ...

Cheers, Peter

My 1965, ref. 7928, with a dial that gets quite dark-chocolately brown in the sun.

Some Tudors

The 7016 is all ready to go to a watchmaker as soon as I can find the right hands - been looking for a year.

The 7928 is a redial

The NCG needs dial and hands

It's pretty gloomy here in Manila due to a typhoon - but I got this little pocket of sunshine in my email today. Back from a quick spa visit!
