Sorry about your Dad, your story is very similar to mine in this respect.

My dad was also into clocks and watches but never had the funds to have his own Rolex. He died in 2016 and I own the Seiko he wore as a daily and it takes pride of place in my watch box and I will wear it on Christmas day.

In 2020, I bought my first Rolex after a long love affair with the brand and know he would have loved it and would've been proud, I'm sure.

I don't remember exactly, but I think low/mid 30's, but I had other nice watches before Rolex.

I was in my late fifties before anything as serene as Rolex watches caught my interest. Basically I had to run out of vehicle and guitar storage space.

44 here. Honestly would love not to have mine as they were my father’s. He loved timepieces, but saved his passions for clocks. The Rolex were work gifts that he rarely wore and are in mint condition. His last TT DJ was a choice between it and a plugin grandfather clock! Oy.

I was 42 and it was a rose gold/SS Turn-o-graph that I kept and wore for 31 years. I just sold it early this year.

I bought my first in 1984 for my 29th birthday. It was a GMT because, well, Magnum PI wore one.

My first was a two-tone Datejust when I was 21, and when they cost $1,500.

I was 29, it was a Two Tone Datejust. I still have it, and we have certainly had some adventures together as it was my daily for a few years (and it shows!)

Very sad to read about your loss. May he rest in peace.
I lost my father in June 2022, he was certainly a watch guy, and loved Rolex. We spoke about watches quite a bit especially his last few weeks. I’m fortunate and blessed to say that now every time I acquire a new Rolex (or another brand he liked) I can crack a smile.

14. My father went to Hong Kong on a buying trip in late 1980’s and picked up a couple of 34mm Oysterdate precision manual wind watches for me and my brother for Christmas. Mine was blue dial and his was white dial. Wore it everyday until I was 33 and started getting into watch collecting and slightly larger watches.

I was given my first Rolex from my parents for high school graduation - a month before I turned 18. It was 1984 and I wore that watch as my one and only for 24 years - through college, grad school, young adult life, etc.

It was a Datejust 36 on jubilee.

My current three are...

I’m now 56 and I’ve loved Rolex (almost) my entire life.
