I'm trying to understand the Mercedes strategy of not having BOT help HAM slipstream to achieve a faster lap time. Anyone?

I don't know why RBR sent Max out on a 2nd run on the mediums when he was clearly fast enough to advance to Q3 and not put another lap on those medium starting tires. Perhaps the lock up was on purpose and they wanted to be on the softs all along but not have Mercedes react and go softs at the end of Q2? Why not split the strategy with Checo and have him start on mediums? I think RBR knew they had to do something different from Mercedes or they genuinely thought the soft would be better for their chances tomorrow. Deceit and misdirection until the very last moment. This is why I love F1!!
Bottas down in 6th won't play apart until the soft tire runners come in for changes. What if there's a safety car in the first 10 laps? Advantage RB? as they all go onto the hards for the remainder of the race? It's going to be very good tomorrow. |

Ok, so... BOT stays in range for when VER gets tires and comes out of the pits. BOT holds up VER while HAM does fast laps.

Bottas and Perez are basically both out of the Max and Lewis fight. It’s now just a straight fight between Max starting on softs and Lewis starting on mediums for the drivers. This is what we all wanted to see.
All Bottas really needs to do is score points for the constructors championship. |

The Official Formula One Thread!
Everyone seems to forget Norris in third. Love the kid, but can be very immature at the wheel, hope he doesn’t get to ansy and aggressive and tap LH. That would seal the deal for RBR.

In the business we call that kind of driving “optimistic” You bring up a good point. The on-track schedule begins with F4 race, followed by F2 race with plenty of time for cleanups. But each grid spot can have its own grip peculiarity + VER on Softs, HAM on Med., & NOR on Softs (behind VER) could make for a charge into T1 with mixed outcome(s). Given McLaren’s engine supplier, I would wager a conversation may arise from Zak to NOR - to the effect that there’s a championship race afoot and you’re not in it, nor are we in Honda’s camp, capiche? If anyone has launch issues then even P4 (PER) could be a factor. So much to ponder before we all sit down. I think this would be a great Zoom watch party! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

As long as it is decided on the track.
I hope MV wins but if LH wins he deserves it just as much. What a finale

Definitely want it on-track and not in Stewards room. Also hope for zero stupid on-track moves to throw it into the room. On who…I’m fairly certain that strategy is on HAM’s side due to tires. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Lando for the GP win!!
Pretty sure I’m more anxious right now than Max is, which is absolutely wild. Reflecting back, I feel Max already won the championship. The fact that he has to earn it again today and Mercedes has just been competitive for the past 3 races, even as somewhat of a Ham fan, I would like to see VER close it out. |

Thank you Stewarts, pushing people off the track is not a proper race tactic in F1.
Max has a great future... in NASCAR.

Mmm.
A lot of fault lies with the stewards of the regulations - this should have been dealt with earlier in the season but they allowed/encouraged Verstappen’s conduct and then decided, today, to clamp down on it. |

YES! Helmet cams help give you a more realistic view. It really is THAT friggen bumpy. Still missing the GLORIOUS feel of G-Forces and tire grip potential tho. The high heat and profuse sweating I could do without tho LOL
