Lewis was screwed once the last SC came out and he knew it. Even if he pitted under the first VSC, it wouldn’t have really mattered since Max got the soft tires on for a one lap sprint.

His only chances were to finish under SC or not let the lapped cars through. Once those 4 or 5 cars between them were let through, it was over. Lewis never had a chance.

Agreed, yet that's racing. It's part if the deal a driver makes when they get behind the wheel.
