I have two watches on order with Czapek. I have received neither. I remain patient.:

A Quai des Bergues S - Build Date was 9/2022. On 12/2 i received a nice email from them explaining that the build would take a couple of extra weeks. Last month i requested an update, a reply took a week to be forthcoming. It was explained that no case was available at this time. No timeframe was offered.

An Antarctique 40.5 Glacier Blue - Build date was 2/7/2023 - I have received several form emails explaining that Czapek manufacturing is behind schedule. I have not received a personalized email similar to the one received for the above watch, nor have i requested an update.

This is just my experience and may not be representative of others. I am not concerned with these delays.

Well - If you look at the % drop in grey pricing vs retail these three brands dropped the most in the past 12 months or so. No surprise given some of their models were ridiculously overpriced. Still many models above retail, but it’s not like they have been immune to market forces.

There isn’t another Rolex. Patek is Patek. GP isn’t AP. There is no next FPJ.

Good news is that if you can afford to lose some money on a watch the choices are strong.

Even gronefeld principias are struggling to pull msrp as are Journe sport models on the lower end. Czapeks are beautifully done but you could count the number of people who were silly enough to pay over msrp on one hand. Fear not, this means buying one makes you a connoisseur, not a wanker.

Also- curious, for those who have received, any changes you would have made in your build (eg, 38 vs 40, 12 vs DI, dial color)?

I placed an order in Feb of 2022 for an Antarctique. It was supposed to be cased up in May. I inquired, and they said it would be June.

But I haven't heard from them yet, so still waiting.

I'm going to wait until end of June and then ping them again.

Haha. The Czapeks are not for me but I can't get the black RG C Edition 2 out of my head despite the weird design. Does it work or does it not... If only I didn't fear the bloodbath if I ever fell out of love... Clearly I haven't achieved connoisseur level yet. LOL

I feel your pain I too am silly enough to buy watches with little to no resale market haha that’s part of the joy! I like those but am more intrigued by the logical 1 and micro rotor for some reason.

I was eyeing this PDD during both runs, and saw the softer result the second time around. Seller had a wild reserve given broad supply of a non-limited model.

I’d much rather see the Czapek team capture 100% of MSRP, than produce watches which get flipped at premiums they don’t share.

He also talks about the recent noise about the comparisons between the Twelve and Antarctique - check out at 54 minute, he gives his take on the differences.

TDLR - he 100% does NOT agree that they are in any way similar and actually are completely in a different category (fine watchmaking/ more complex to do vs good quality, affordable watchmaking)

Czapek - curvier and softer lines, holding in hand - you get a more refined feel, movement is special too
Twelve - more aggressive with straight lines, playing closer to a Royal Oak
This has been my point all along... They do not look alike at all other than the 12 double dagger markers. Perhaps we can now retire this debate.

What's the difference? Czapek sets the price and they get MSRP, if there's a strong grey market they'll sell out watches. If secondary prices fall to 50% of MSRP off the floor they wont be selling at MSRP very long.

Can some of the owners here give an info to the date wheel? is it really off centered for the single digits? It seems so on many pictures and videos. This would be a bit disappointing for me personally.

They are extremely similar and there are several topics, also in TRF, talking about this.
And the designer claiming that they are not at all similar appears indeed as an indirect confirmation to my eyes.
Of course, similar in prima facie - high level aspects, not in details and quality… simply because they are objects clearly belonging to different segments … they play in different and not comparable leagues. I would judge each of the two in its own league instead of short circuiting them.

The Monochrome here has always been centered for all dates.

It is not a problem of series. In some Antarctiques the date wheel appears not centered. If I remember well, in this topic it has been explained what happens in those cases and also mentioned a trick to mitigate and, in some cases, adjust it (maybe it was a matter of setting the date at certain times, but I may recall wrong)

I saw these photos online. Looks like an 38.5mm S with a 12 numeral. I haven’t seen a 12 on any of the S versions as I don’t think this was an option. A special request maybe?

I ordered the same and should be able to pick it up on Monday, so I hope mine also has the 12. And yes you could order it like that - basically same options as for the bigger one, not sure why you can not choose it anymore on their website.

I could order it like this from the dealer - you basically hat the same options as for the normal version, not sure why it's gone from the website now. Should be able to pick up mine on Monday so can show some more pictures.

Aaah OK, good to hear! So it was probably a dealer option only, because I don’t remember seeing it on the website when I ordered mine. It’s nice that this is a possibility.

Does anyone know whether Czapek will offer the Antarctique S with other guilloche dial styles and / or colors? I’m convinced the 38.5mm works for me, but would prefer one of the other PDD colors (dark blue or white).

Deep Blue yes, was quietly announced to the retailers at W&W23, delivery 2025.
