The only time my middle name was ever used was when my parents were really really mad.

Joe, did your wife tell you what the last name should be?

We also found middle names useful to make our parents happy - since they are all family names, too. Taylor, Witten and Baswell are the three we used for the girls.

In the end it really doesn't matter. My wife liked the name "Ethan". Everyone wrinkled their noses at the time.
Naturally I thought of the historic figure Ethan Allen and was OK with it, though I never would have thought of it myself.
Now, no-one thinks twice about the name, though several people thought they should express their opinions before he was born.

Once again, Mireyna's explanation makes perfect sense to me. Her husband has every right to his opinion but he has yet to learn that WHEN MAMA AIN'T HAPPY AIN'T NOBODY HAPPY. In the long run, my husband is always very glad when I get my way.

Looks like I'm not going to win this one though
The ONLY thing my husband wants a say in regarding this baby so far, is the name! He's let me do anything else I wanted (like decorating, picking out the registry items, etc) but I think that was mainly out of laziness from his part!
Last night he compiled a new list with names, and I hated all but one, so we'll see were it goes from here...

Well, when it all comes down to it, aren't YOU the one who fills out the birth certificate information? Sorry, that's not really helpful either. But I do absolutely understand where you're coming from. I can't know your husband's taste in names, but I think back to my own parents' disagreement over my brother's name. My dad got his way, because he told my mom she could call him by the middle name if she liked it better (so poor kid was going to have to answer to TWO names?) In the end, everyone went by the first name my dad had picked. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound good with the last name. When you say them together it sounds like "Markarp." He often has to repeat it slowly because people can't distinguish when the first name ends and the last name begins! He can't even marry to get out of the awkward sounding name. He's stuck with it always.

When I wanted a second child, I said to my husband....."I want to get pregnant, I want a boy and I want to call him Matthew!'

My second oldest is a boy named Matthew.

The name I wanted originally before I was pregnant, is different from the one now.
We thought of this name very early in the pregnancy, and my husband liked it at first, and that's what he kept using while he talked to my belly, but now he changed his mind, and he doesn't like it anymore but I'm stuck on it, and I love it!

Well, now there's some information I think I can help you with, Mireyna!

If this is the name your baby has been hearing all this time - ever since her tiny ears were developed enough to start working - then she already knows who she is and who you are. Another name at this point now would undoubtedly distress her and she would be born wondering where those lovely people were who have been talking to her and calling her by name this entire time.

This is all very tongue in cheek, as you know. But I'd spring it on him anyway.

Sue and I have decided on names if we ever have a child.

If a boy, Gabriel. If a girl, Gabrielle.

"Ashley Materi, if you were born to Sarah Palin, your name would be:
Creation Schwarzkopf Palin"

Not so sure about the middle name, but Creation is pretty cool! Better than Bristol..

No more going back to work for me this year!
I am home now until the delivery and maternity leave is passed!
I have mixed feelings about this though! I like to work...

My house is a mess at the moment, so I guess i could start cleaning up, but I don't really feel like it!
What do you girls do in situations like this?
