69, retired

"In 1983, I was a young Vietnam Vet, married with my first child. I had moved to Alaska to fly for a friend at Sportsman's Flying Service. The GI Bill had allowed me to obtain my single engine, land and sea, commercial license and I had brought my Cessna 180 on floats to Alaska. During the winter, I began building houses and upon the sale of one, I took $1,000 in cash to a jeweler in Anchorage and walked out with a brand new Rolex Submariner. That watch has flown thousands of miles, been Dall Sheep hunting in the Wrangells, moose hunting below Tazlina Glacier, wolf watching on the Upper Toklat River in Denali NP, hiked hundreds of miles in the wilderness, caught lots of salmon in the Wood River/Tikchik and skied endless miles. It has been on my wrist to pound thousands of nails. Today it is with me here in Hawaii....actually at this writing it's on it's way to Rolex Dallas for its second rebuild in 31 years. It has had big chips on the edge of the crystal and will now need to have a scratched bezel replaced for the second time. It has the original bracelet but is just now wearing through one of the rolled steel tubes at the end of the clasp. 31 years of friction.

I have nothing but repect for this "tool" watch that has stood up to everything thrown at it. Say what you will, I am thankful to those who made it and blessed to have owned it. My daughter says she would not recognize me if I was not wearing it."

I had written this earlier. I am basically retired after years in Real Estate and construction. Drive a black ZO6/ZO7. We grow Kona coffee and I still have the original Sub and tried just today to buy a new one. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
Thank you Rolex.

I am a retired military officer and investor. I own/wear a Tudor Submariner (76100) and I still have my issue Roamer military wristwatch. I also own a Breitling Superocean Professional but i find that particular watch fairly heavy for daily wear.

Hi everyone, it is my first post, and this thread allows me to introduce myself !

I am currently a student, to become a physical engineer in electronics and electrotechnics. I own a 1680 red sub MK IV that I got from my grandpa, and I own a SubC ND.

My heart beats for a 116618LN, I hope one day I will be able to afford one ! I am not a gold fan but IMO this Submariner suits every styles, I mean you can wear flip flop and a submariner you will look good. You can wear a high end over priced suits with Richelieu, and a submariner you will also look as good as the first one with flip flop lol. Sub is definitely my favorite watch !

Work in the Afghanistan...rock the sub almost everyday at "work"

Does anyone else find this thread super gauche? Maybe instead it would be better to post bank statements and portfolios or maybe a reference letter from your banker? Or we could all just write down what color our AMEX are?

No? It's neat to know how diverse we all are in terms of our professions and what industries we all work in.

I don't see it being about money.

It's all in your perspective. If you don't want divulge what you do or how many watches you own, you don't have to participate in the thread.

It goes with the territory. Not like people are not posting photos of their expensive belongings in most every thread on here. I see diamonds, cars, gold, houses, on thread after thread and have never felt anyone was trying to outdo or measure up to anyone else. It just creates perspective on the variety of ways one can achieve some sort of success in life
