Datejust 2 UK discount

I know I will be in the minority but, after trying on the DJ41 I was left a little underwhelmed.
For me I prefer the size of the DJ2, this may be due to it being a little thicker like my beloved Milguass, coupled with the stunning blue azzurro/roman dial.
Would I be right in assuming that there would be plenty of these models still in their displays and, with this in mind, do you think I could obtain a good discount? - So far I have been offered 5% bringing the price down to £4988.

I'm with you, love the DJ2 over the DJ41. DavidSW has one of those for $6375 which I believe is 4573 pounds.

You are not as far in the minority as you might think. Quite a few on here (myself included) prefer the II to the 41

I would think you could get maybe up to 10% from an AD

Still don’t know why they changed it. The DJII is stunning.

5% discount on a DJ. He must be selling like 10 a hour. But I doubt that. 5% on a Sub GMT Daytona sounds like a great deal. Look at his display's the DJ's probably hanging out. And try to find the sport models. Yep only PM one's.

Think you can get 15% at least on DJ.

In the USA you should be able to get 10-20% easy. As I have learned on this board UK is a bit tougher BUT don't forget this DJII has been sitting in his case for some time so I would definitely try 20/15/10 discount, always worth a shot.

Good Luck!

Thanks guys, I will try and push for more discount, however, after WF offering me a paltry £10,000 for Skydweller, I might have to wait a while.
Anyone in the UK had any luck negotiating a sizeable discount on a DJ?

I have tried on a dj41 very similar to by dark rhodium diamond dial dj2. No way I would pick the 41 over it. The 41 felt like 1/3 less watch

Here in the US December 2017, I got 20% from two ADs, only minor history with both. Both were quick to get there but would absolutely go no lower.

Edit: should say I didn't end up buying, got a blue VC 4500v instead. :-D

My AD had one and was offering it to me three moms back for 25% discount!
I ended up getting a DJ41. Very impressive movement over the DJ2

My UK AD explained why 5% is OK but anything more will grab the attention of Mr Rolex.

So, he gave me 5% off my DJ41 but increased this by offering a thousand pounds more than anywhere else on my Rolex trade in.

Same with my wife's DJ31. Two Rolexes traded against it. £2,500 extra for these than elsewhere.

An AD can't be hammered by Mr Rolex for the money he pays for a watch, only what he sells it for under retail.

Do you have any old watches hanging about which your AD could over-value as trade ins?

I’m hoping to move on my dark rhodium ym as I don’t wear it due to concerns over damaging the bezel, however, they have offered £2,500 less than I paid for it 6 months ago.
I regret selling my DJ2 now but can’t afford to lose that sort of money!

Wow, I don’t think I’d get that sort of discount in the UK!

Agreed, tried on the DJ41 and felt it a little thin for my liking, however, the Milguass is my daily and that may be why.

I’m in the U.K. I like the 41 but prefer the DJ2. Through fortunate circumstances when it was announced they were discontinued I managed to acquire three that I really liked. One came from David SW, the other two I purchased from greys here in the U.K.
Looking at the current prices, the pre-owned ones are selling for more than I paid for mine new, and two of mine, for various reasons are still stickered and unworn.
I don’t know what you should pay for one with discount from an AD, but they are becoming very scarce now still new and unworn.
I’d have a look at the greys and scan Ebay. Although people dislike Ebay, there are a lot of reputable dealers using it purely as a platform to advertise. You may find the watch you want cheaper via this method. I know I did.
The DJ2 is a beautiful watch and mine are already worth more than what I paid for them 12 months ago. Unless Rolex slash the prices of new DJ41’s, I think the DJ2 will continue to hold its own on the pre-owned market, but grab it before it’s gone.

Thanks Mike, The 41 is a beautiful watch, I just found it a tad small but, as I say, that may be due to wearing my Milgauss as my daily.
I had the blue azzurro last year but sold it fund my BLNR which I love, however I do miss that blue dial with applied Romans.
I’m not sure whether there is a shortage, particularly for this version but personally feel that, due to this watch being replaced as it didn’t sell well, I feel I should be able to command a greater discount than the 5% I have been offered.

I called my AD today to see if I could negotiate a better discount than the 5% they have currently offered.
Well they called me back and said 7.5% was their absolute best!
Surely I could get better than that for a watch that didn’t sell well?

I have a DJII with dark rhodium diamond dial and my AD always says if I want to sell it he has a list of client who want it. DJ41 who?

Keep going back every week until you get 12%.

Thanks Neil, I will keep shopping around - there must be quite a few sitting in display cases that need to be moved!

I wonder what the current steel DJ41 discounts are. The one I want lists at £5450 (black with jubilee).

As above trade something in and get a inflated trade in Deal. They buy the trade and sell it at a loss just to get the deal done on the Rolex.
