Fourth on the List
Hello all! Hoping for a bit of insight from some of the more experienced TRFers.
I called around a few AD's as soon as they opened on Wednesday morning in what I thought would be a futile attempt to get on a list for the new SS gmt pepsi. Most told me that they could take my name and phone number, but could not commit to anything further. However, one AD said they needed to talk to the manager and would call me back. No more than 20 mins later I got a call from them saying that I am now #4 on the list. Understandably, they could not give me a time frame. My question to you all is simply this: what does that really mean? Fourth sounds pretty high up there to me, but I have to assume that all of their big time customers would get priority. So could #4 on the list still mean a 1-2 year wait or more? For further context, I live in LA and have never purchased from this dealer before. In fact, I'm quite new to Rolex, and up to this point have only dealt with trusted sellers here. Who knows? I still need to see the watch in person before fully commiting, so even if/when I do get the call I may decide to pass it on to the next lucky guy or gal on the list. As always, your responses are greatly appreciated! |

Even #4 is likely a year from now.

It means nothing at most ADs. If a client comes in who has spent millions there and decides they want a Pepsi GMT you’re going to still be #4 on their list but that guy is probably skipping the list.

Walk in the front door of the AD that you called and plunk down a $5k deposit. You will become #1 on the list quite quickly. I'm willing to bet that those in front of you didn't do it ...

Hey Mike!
Congrats on landing 4th, seems pretty high up there to me too. Unfortunately for you, I’ve read on here that sometimes frequent buyers or VIP customers get to cut in line. So, honestly, I am not sure, what #4 means either. But hey, it’s better than #5 |

I was told, “I will absolutely add your name to our VIP list,” by my AD. Who knows what any of this means. I think if someone comes along who buys more than me, they’re going to give them the opportunity to buy the SS BLRO before I get the chance. I just bought a BLNR last month, and am planning on getting a Hulk when the AD can get me one... so I don’t mind a wait to replenish the watch fund.

Also, if you're interested in seeing the watch in-person (like I am), call the Rolex boutique down at South Coast Plaza. They are doing an event to showcase the Basel pieces at the end of next month (April 28) -- if you call I'm sure they'll be happy to send you an invitation. |

You're number 4 on the list of people who are not allowed to cut the line. There are others, due to being maybe more regular or bigger spending customers who will be allowed to cut the line. #4 on this list is not a bad place to be although I would imagine that in LA there might be a lot of people on the list that are allowed to cut in. Take it with a pinch of salt. You may get the call in a reasonable amount of time or you may not.
The fact they even called you back might be a good sign.

Put on list. Dealer asked for phone number and name to confirm i purchased watches from them before. This is a multiple chain ad. They said no one without a relationship or prior purchase history would be added to any sort of list.

Too many factors to consider....my best advice is don't get your hopes up and be pleasantly surprised, that's how I look @ this game. There are the VIPs/big spenders for sure that will get the watch first......then you have no idea how Rolex will distribute the GMT when it releases (just guesses and conjecture right now).....even then every AD pending on their relationship with Rolex gets different allocations.....
Bottom line, relax and enjoy the ride.....and no....walking in paying for the watch in full most likely does nothing @ this point, because I can guarantee you most people on "lists" are ready to go @ a pin drop to place a full deposit if they can be promised the watch 1st/sooner. The dealers know this and will use hard to allocate pieces to play games and maximize their profits instead. |

You’ll get it more quickly than you think as I don’t see this one being huge seller once the hype dies down and people come to their senses.

Tried to call my AD to get on the list. They said they "have no list right now" for it. A.k.a good luck and get in line later.

Sorry to rain on your parade a little, however, in my experience the lists are a joke. Years ago, I bought a DJ from an AD, and started building a relationship with the sales guy. I'd pop in frequently just to chat. Daytona's were red-hot, and they had a huge waiting list, which I wasn't on. I mentioned that I'd love one someday. A couple of weeks later, he calls me to say that he received two Daytona's, one black, one white. He said I could take my pick. I drove right down and picked up the black one.

What they actually mean is that you’ll always be fourth from the bottom.

Means jack squat unless you’re dealing with ownership. This will be Daytona 2.0 for at least 2 years.

To give you a frame of reference, I was fourth on the list for the ceramic white dial Daytona in LA and it took 2 years for me to get it. Ultimately, it depends on the AD, specifically their sales volume each month, the more they sell the larger the distribution.

Good luck. I’m first on a list for the new Pepsi with my AD. Not so with the Daytona unfortunately.

I hope you get your watch ASAP
But I do know of people who were around 4 on a list in London for the D Blue & BLNR and they have been waiting 18 months to 2 years So this is summed up I suppose by all the comments above regarding VIP clients This is fair enough though in my opinion |

What would you do if an unknown client guaranteed you what is truthfully a very fine $9K sale but down the line a regular client who spends 6 figures plus in your store raises his hand and says, "I want one."? Mr. Regular would be ahead of $9K Guy in a heartbeat.

FWIW, I am on the list with my AD (15 year history many Rolexes + other brands) I was told yes I am definitely on the list "...but at the end of the day, Management will make the call on who gets one and when".
Having said that, last year I put my name down for the 126600 in late April (way after everyone else). I got it in late December and as I later found out, I got the 2nd one to arrive at the AD. So my take-away is that I think it matters less where you are on the list and more on your relationship with your AD AND how many watches you have purchased. Your mileage, however, may vary. Good luck |

4th does not mean 4th. 4th means you’re the 4th average joe to call up. You’re behind all the owners loyal customers, VIPs and anyone of importance that walks in the store before your number comes around.

I was #5 for a white dial 116500 and I paid $2,500 to secure my spot. It took 572 days to get my watch. I'm #12 inline for a Pepsi so we'll see how long this takes or if the AD will bump me up the que as a prior customer with an established relationship. Until watches ship, AD's at this point do not have any visibility or ETA so it's just a SWAG ( stupid, wild, a*s, guess )

4th on a list which may or may not be a piece of paper that may or may never see the light of day.

4th means nothing. ADs prioritize repeat and vip customers. So 4th could really mean 10th or even 20th.
