Nautilus chronograph 5980/1ar-001

A couple of weeks ago spoke with AD and I showed interest in a Nautilus. At the time the SA said to for get about it because the wait time was crazy. Stopped by today and was offered a Chronograph 5980/1AR-001. looked amazing in 2-tone but not sure. I know i would be the one wearing it and have to be ok with it but would rather have an SS. Thoughts Please

In my opinion it’s not worth buying something unless it’s exactly what you want as it’ll always be second best.

I would buy it only if you love it, not as an investment.

Hey man. We actually love the TT 5980. It’s more casual than the 5980 1R and lighters. Also the blue dial is probably one of the brightest blues that is on the nautilus. We’ve been waiting for this one.

don't buy it if you don't like it. but first take another look at it. if you manage to free yourself from that 1980s rolex two-tone stigma you might find that the 5980AR is a fantastic watch:::)))

Don't force it, I am in the converse position of being more interested in the TT SD43 than the SS, mainly because I have had alot of SS Rolexes already, but I'm not sure if I really like the TT for what it is or more for what it isn't.

It’s a very nice watch and also you don’t see too many in the wild.
The blue dial it’s very cool...
Just do it!

It’s a good looking watch. I’m not generally a two tone fan having tried and failed with it previously. But I think I prefer the two tone 5980 to the SS.

Not sure which Nautilus you were after but apart from the two tone vs SS question you should make sure you like the heft of the 5980 and the pushers. Some people treasure the Nautilus for its elegant 8mm thin case (think 5711, 5712, and 5740) and don't want it obstructed by any pushers, others prefer the chunkier 11-13mm thick pieces (5726, 5980, 5990). No right or wrong, just make sure you get what you like...

West coast! with all due respect let me ask them if they don't mind if i share their name. no longer available went in and tried it on and it was a done deal. this watch has A presence in person and the pictures do not do it justice. That Dial is beautiful w/ SS and rose gold. Was told that it would be ok to pass it up as they had at least between 16 to 18 people on a list that would be down in a heartbeat for it.

Definitely post pics.
You made the right decision IMHO.
I haven't seen the watch but have heard pics don't do it justice. It's an amazing piece by all accounts, and one I would have jumped on if offered.

Congrats

Thanks will do as soon as i pick up, hoping sometime in December. went in on Friday and left deposit, even though they said i didn't need to. I don't know how i was jumped up. I guess right place , right time. went in to speak with the SA to see if any word on my Tudor P01 and the proprietor came up said hello and asked if the SA showed me what they got in that day. Then he asked me to go sit away from all the counters and that moment i thought ya, he brought out a Rolex Daytona oyster flex. One in yellow and one in white gold and the Patek 5980/1ar. Must say everyone at this AD are great in the way they treat their clients I've noticed that when i've been there

I remember Tiffany NYC had one of these in the case upside down about 4 years ago. I remember it as I thought it was funny how they could put a watch like that in the case upside down and not notice lol. Now they are nowhere to be found!
