Where does PP make its money

I dont think we know with certainty and much has been said how the dress watch is dead and that PP needs to restrict supply on certain.models as they dont hold value. I have been having some chats in the UK and its dawned on me that no matter how much we think we are important to an AD there are customers spending money in eye watering amounts that make our humble contribution pale in comparison.

So.i have a friend struggling to get a 6002G. Waiting list????? 50.....that's a GBP 1.1 mio watch....he has a significant collection but the unspoken word is that if you dont have a MR you dont get prioritised for a 6002G....

Ok....I will buy a MR....5207G.....mmmmm possibly 3 years no promise....ok 5316P........mmmmmm let's say no chance but put on a wish list...ok..how about 5208R....possibly two years...ok.if I buy two??? Well it will help on the 6002 but no guarantee we can allocate...

So he is trying to spend GBP 3 mio and it's quite difficult...at the same time ahead of him at the AD is 1 client with 2 MR on order and another with another....in desperation I will.order 5270P, 6102P and one I cant remember....on the 5270P there are 3 on order and all happened in last few weeks after not one order since Baselworld...no mention when any will be delivered.....

So maybe when u have average unit values far higher than we think it doesnt matter if they sell watches that are cheaper and dont hold value.

Oh a customer with a 6300G requested a 5531 and told one day...not now.....

In a way it's a nice feeling knowing I will never qualify to buy any of these

They probably make 1 of these each year. So if two people want it each year, there is a glut.

These are ultra-luxury watches. I believe they are intended for Patek collectors and Thierry has indicated Patek will take care of Patek collectors. Perhaps in a perfect world poor people could own ultra-luxury goods but not in the world we live in.

I’ve been lucky enough to meet a bunch of billionaires over my career and none of them wear really expensive watches. The most expensive I saw was a dd (not sub sorry) or panerai when it was the it thing

So I’m going to assume these watches go to oligarchs

Being good looking helps when you are a celebrity. John Mayor is also highly intelligent, which is really irritating. A winner in the genetic lottery.

Honestly he should find somewhere else to shop. THE UK is the worst place to buy a watch. Competing with oligarchs and oil tycoons.

How many folks actually want these watches at such high prices. The application process is probably more of a way to get to know and befriend the customers of these watches than anything else. PP does not make many, so as said, if two customers who want a certain model, there could be a wait. Except on some models most of these top shelf watches are not that liquid. The margin is less on applications models from what I am told and discounts are frowned upon. The best way to buy such watches, if you can find them, is on the aftermarket where they generally sell for less than MSRP.

The UK is, indeed, the worst place to be a watch collector.

And yes, the Grand Master Chime, I believe, is max 2-3 per year. So, there'd be a wait.

At least in Texas, and most of the North American oil patch, everyone knows the mark of success is a yellow gold Rolex President. I believe it’s law in Texas that you must purchase a YG President on the occasion of your first successful oil well.

There’s a lady’s that posts on Purist Pro forum that can probably call Thierry and get whatever she wants in a month or less. Her dad owned Singha Brewery and was a major Patek collector and so is she.

I was thinking about buying some oil wells in North America. I know multiple people with 9-10 figure net worths that are in oil. The business seems to have extremely high profit margins. I believe oil is not going anywhere anytime soon. Definitely not within our life times.

How do I make 100M from oil in texas? Thanks.

You guys will be surprised an the number of high-net-worth individuals whereby splashing millions on a watch is nothing much to them and buying a run-of-the-mill 150K to 200K PPC is like us buying a Casio.

Most of them other than the celebs are very low profile. You wont find them on forums or on IG showing off their Pateks or other high end watches.
