Rolex on Macy's

This really surprised me. My wife got an email from Macy's about some type of sale and I looked at the watches. I was shocked to see pre-owned Rolex's for sale. Is this normal? Are they an authorized dealer? I guess anyone can sell pre-owned. What do you all think about this.

Saw a case of these in Macy's flagship Herald Sq. store last time I was in New York. Most likely a concession.

Been going on for years. Walmart has them on their site, too.

Macy’s near me has had Rolex watches for at least 10 years. Mostly over polished beat up Datejust’s with aftermarket dials.

I thought you might be kidding around until I looked on their site......everyone is getting on the act. Question is, how safe do people feel about buying a Rolex from Walmart? Meaning is the watch legit, but im sure Walmart do their due diligence in making sure all their watches are authentic, at least I would assume.

You are not buying from Walmart, its someone like a dealer using their platform to reach the masses.

Jared advertises on Instagram. The prices are from above the absolute peak, like a BLNR for $35k

Not an AD. Can't blame them for jumping on the grey bandwagon.

This is exactly what i saw walking through my local macys. They had a 36mm Dj for 16k, aftermarket dial and absolutely hammered.

Macys in herald square NYC has had them for as long as I can remember, which is not saying much as I don’t remember what I did last weekend.

I've seen Costco advertisements online for Rolex. A bit unusual

Pretty sure that Costco doesn't sell preowned Rolex. I doubt that Costco would risk selling something that was preowned. All of the Rolex (and Omega) that I've seen at Costco have been new, but come with the Costco warranty instead of the manufacturer warranty. Similar to (most) watches on Jomashop, they're new and have been acquired for sale on the gray market.

Costco sells purchased new items and usually at a discount. Below is their satisfaction guarantee. It's been years since I've seen a Rolex available at Constco.

https://www.costco.com/wcsstore/Cost...ion_Policy.pdf

It's shown attached to this $11.5K Omega.

The exclusivity is from purchasing at an AD.

Those that can, do, those that can’t, go grey.

I know here in NZ a well-known 'high-end' pawnbroker uses WatchCSA to verify all watches that come in. I also travel overseas frequently and have spoken to many secondhand dealers who use them too.

I've been shown how it works - WatchCSA gives the dealer step-by-step instructions and high-def images showing how to take each model apart and how to verify that the watch is real.
