New 116610LV but paranoid

Hi everyone,

i got myself a BNIB 116610LV from one of a reputable dealer from my country.

However the fonts on its dial is making me very confused and worried.

I know that there are many posts on it, and i have been trying to search and understand the different variations on dial fonts.

I really hope someone can help me take a look at mine, and let me know what i have purchased is safe and good.

Greatly appreciated.

Plenty of experts here to comment. You may want to hide any pictures of your watch that show the serial number. Just bought mine a few weeks ago and the font is a bit different, but as you said there are a couple variations out there. Did it come with books/papers? Sounds like you got it from a reputable seller.

Thank you for your reply and advise.

I have re-uploaded a cropped photo to hide my serial number.

Yes i got it from a reputable dealer from my country. It came with full set, stickers all still un-peeled.

Just hope to make sure that people are seeing this dial fonts variation as well.

Thank you all

I'm sure the experts will weigh in shortly, but if you bought from an authorized dealer, chances are you're safe.

Rolex likes to change up their fonts for some reason. Many theories as to why, but bottom line is to buy the seller.

Looks like a beauty, enjoy it!

Dial looks great...

But what's inside?

Seriously tho...when you say reputable dealer, what does that mean? Apparently not an AD but a dealer who merits post purchase authentication?

Just how "reputable" is a dealer that you are not confident in your purchase?

Thank you all for the replies.

Why i was paranoid is due to the fact that my dial seems different from most of the recent pictures of 116610LV posted in this forum. :x

But i feel much assured now and am going to just enjoy the watch to the fullest!

Anyway, the dealer is not an AD. He operates mainly on a few watch trading forums popular in my country, and has been doing so for many years with 100% positive feedback till date.

Here's a wrist shot!

Ill just throw in my two cents, looks like nothing to be concerned about.

As the experts say, it is the new dial. Big deal is really the script "ft"

I have a 2015 and got to compare it to a 2016, indeed I do like that very tiny change.

Ignorant question. Is there a way of telling the date of manufacture in newer models?

I don't believe so. It is a rough estimation i guess based on when the warranty card is filled? Also the dealer usually has an idea based on ordering?

Someone please correct me if not.

There was never a 100% sure way to tell when any Rolex watch was manufactured since the 1970s. Only a approx date when the case or clasp was stamped between X&Y years and this only worked with the fast selling watches like the SS sports.Over the many years of Rolex watches there has been hundreds possible thousands of tiny font changes.Trouble today with loupe mania and mainly the WIS type these minuscule font change are noticed more. But the average Joe buying public would not even look or would doubt even notice these tiny changes.

Really!? For 116610LVC I am only aware of 2 versions with "Submariner" recent typeface change. What's the other variants? Can someone share previous thread links?

I am only aware of 16610LV has about 7 variants.
