Importance of Documentation

I bought my first Rolex last week after lusting for it for some time. I have found a GMT Pepsi that is in as new condition and unpolished and I want it. Problem is the dealer has no documentation or original box. He is asking $9,200 Au (7050 US). How important is the documentation and box ? Would you buy without ? Photo of The Pepsi is the actual watch.

It's not really all that important, box/papers provide a higher resale value and people seem to like full sets

I have no idea about the market in Australia, but here in the states that would seem to be priced a little high.

As Dave mentioned, a complete set should raise the asking price anywhere from $200-500 depending on the watch. IMO it also makes it easier to sell should you ever have to in the future.

It's my preference to purchase watches with a complete set, but not necessary if you come across a great deal.

Your proposed watch doesn't look like a bad deal to me, but certainly not a great deal.

I don't think that's a bad deal if the watch is truly unpolished. The picture certainly looks pretty good. If you're just wearing the watch papers won't matter unless you have a more collector mentality/plan to resell IMO.
