Simple Choice... Patek Or Audermars as a daily wear

To compliment my D as a daily wearer thoughts informed opinions narrowed it down to these, reasoning a change!! top tier marques both IMO simple high end wearers in SS [bracelet on the AP / rubber on the Patek]

The AP Royal Oak contains the firms new in-house movement, as opposed to previous RO's containing ebauches from JLC. There have been teething problems with the first few batches of RO's, with movements just stopping. If I were to get an RO, I would try to find a New-Old-Stock one with the JLC Movement. Superior timekeeping in my opinion, and the AP/JLC relationship is one of the oldest in the business.

I personally own a PP Aquanaut 5165, the 38mm version. Great watch, new evolved movement, and fantastic design heritage.

I have also heard of date change issues too with the Safari which of course contains the in-house movement.

I like them both, and have tried on both, though I own neither. I've been strongly considering this AP, and have received some excellent owner reviews, along with several others who say that they either didn't like the bracelet (hair puller), didn't like the minute hand moving when they set the time, or both. Two have since moved to the Vacheron Overseas. I had the AP on my wrist last week, and found it to be a gorgeous watch.

As far as the Aquanaut is concerned, everything I've read from owners is that they love the watch. It's quite stunning on the wrist.

You've put yourself in an enviable position, and could well end up with both.

There is nothing simple about this choice. I saw this thread about 3 hours ago, and finally made up my mind (for now) that I would go with the PP.

AP it is! ,would any of our UK members know what the pricing structure is like here i get the impression that in the states/asia relatively heavy discounting is the normal but can't see that here with our limited AP AD network

Steve, the AP is an iconic design, no doubt about it, retaining the original Gerald Genta touches, with a heritage shared by the PP Nautilus (from which the Aquanaut evolved) and IWC Ingenieur, and VC Overseas. When picking up your watch, do check for the following:

- date change as mentioned by Matt,
- hacking mechanism when adjusting the time
- power reserve

List is around GBP6,000.00 or so. The owners of the AP Boutique are good friends of mine. PM me when you're in town next.

Hey, over the weekend, I was looking through some of my wife's trash celebrity magazines, and saw Raffaello Follieri wearing what I think is this AP.

Dave, who's Raffaello Follieri? Sounds like a very dandy name indeed
