Singapore AD discounts

My AD here messaged me today out of the blue and informed me that the company head office were now imposing a maximum discount of 8% on the 'popular SS sports Rolex' and, on that basis, did I still want to go ahead with my order when it comes in. Of course I do! Bit of a bummer but I'm not getting bent out of shape over it.

Anyhoo, I get another message two minutes later to say that my new acquisition will be in on Wednesday, so not all bad.

Before anyone calls BS or an 'XXXXX sales tactic', please bear in mind that the is the same AD that would discount an SS Sub for me (as he did when Mrs Van D bought the LN Date for my 50th).

As an aside I call into another branch of the same chain last week where they had an SS YM and was told most politely that there would be no discount on that piece. I was offered 5% on the RG TT version, whereas my AD will give me 15%.

When I was visiting Singapore a couple of years ago the AD offered me 10% off anything as soon as I walked in the shop , It was on Orchard road inside a small mall but I cant remember the name of the dealer now

Given the limited availability of SS models, I'm surprised that they discount these at all. Look forward to getting word of your next acquisition

They won't give to discounts to 'walk-ins' i.e. people they have no relationship with but we've bought from there several times and I've referred quite a few people there too. I'm not talking millions of dollars of sales, far from it, but enough that they look after me.

That's officially stopped now. I'm sure it still goes on but, if it does, it'll be very hush-hush and I would imagine they'll be quite selective to whom they sell at premium prices.

This is the YM we're talking about, correct? I wouldn't have thought of that as a popular SS piece, fwiw.

That seems about right. The stock levels are just so low right now across the Asia Pacific that it kinda makes sense.

Sorry to hear that!

I went in seven ADs on Friday and found one SS YM, one 37mm RG Oysterflex YM, one TT YM 37mm and one TT YM 40mm. They're quite popular here. A lot of the popularity of some references is geographic specific. For example, the Leopard Daytona is a hot piece here.

The only SS sports readily available here Lee are the Exp, Exp II and Milgauss. You could probably find a TT Sub and/or GMT within a few hours. Everything else is like rocking horse poopy, unless you go to a grey but even they're struggling for stock.

No biggie, Steve. It'll cost me an extra S$600 which is annoying but not the end of the world. I've managed to score on in five days; if I tried in the UK it could quite easily take me that in months. I guess I can't have it all ways
