16610LV vs 126610LV

Hey y'all,

I am on the hunt for a kermit but cannot decide if I want to pull the trigger on a flat four 16610LV or continue to ever so politely pester my AD for the new model. Thoughts and opinions on the two? Anyone who has both or one or the other, care to weigh in on what you like and don't like about each model?

Thanks everyone!

I had a 16610LV from new, and while I prefer the build/solidity of the 6 digit models in general, I'd still take the 16610LV over the 126610LV.

The 16610LV is the original 50th Anniversary piece, and the green aluminium bezel insert is a way nicer colour than the ceramic green which can look quite milky in certain lights. Plus the 16610LV has the 3135 which I infinitely prefer over the 3235.

I’d definitely go for a flat 4. It has a richer history being an anniversary piece and probably the last ever metallic aluminium bezel on the sub. I don’t foresee Rolex ever going backwards since the ceramic bezel had so much success.

I have both. My 16610LV is not a flat four and I could care less. These two watches are so different it shouldn't be an either or question. Buy the original and keep waiting for the new one. Nothing I don't like about either piece and they both satisfy me in their own way.
They make a great pair!

Flat 4 is close to 30k full set and 12 series is 10k retail…..big difference…i would go with the flat 4 if the money wasn’t an issue

The new 12 series Sub is on a completely different level in every way. You are comparing the best and most modern Sub design to a significantly older model. Not really a fair comparison. If you want a classic model then they are judged and feel entirely different.

IMO,the Sub41LV is the way to go and I have owned about them all.

I prefer my 16610 over 124060 when it comes to all day comfort.

Both are excellent but the 16610 wears better*

I should say I have a 97200 glidelock bracelet on the 16610.

I really enjoy my 16610LV. I have a six digit sub also but they wear very differently. If you can find a nice 16610LV I would get that. Its is a nice wearing watch that continues to appreciate in value.

Didn’t you just get a 124060 a couple of days ago? I’d wear and enjoy that before “pestering” your AD.

If you are buying to collect and not wear, I guess the 16610LV with flat-four is something… but seems a high mark up for a printed bezel insert on a watch if you plan to wear it.

If you can buy a flat-four, you can also by a 126610LV from a grey…

16610LV easily for me. If you’re looking to wear and enjoy, have you considered a pointed 4?

I took delivery of the new model today and totally floored. The green bezel is muted and kinda appears dark green in low light and mint green outside in sunlight. And the inky black dial really compliments the overall look. And it wears really really well.

Flat 4 can be a landmine.

I’d go 126610LV

126610lv no contest.
Maxi dial, much better clasp, endlink and bracelet, cerachrom bezel, blue chromalight, glidelock, feels like a more solid watch.
But if it was my money, I'd go green all the way and get a Hulk.

For me the five digit models always win...because it's an odd number of digits. If Rolex skipped and went to seven digits for the next generation I will consider them. Well, only if they move back to metallic bezels...burnt clay seems out of place to me.

For daily wear, 12 series all day. I own both and put a modern glidelock bracelet on the 16610LV which really improves the feel and comfort. But again, 12 for daily driver-

Very different watches, you have to decide if you prefer the bigger case of the 12s, ceramic, etc… or the 5-digit size, aluminum bezel, and look/feel.

16610LV: perfect proportions, aluminium bezel with amazing shade that a ceramic bezel will never have. I would hunt for an unpolished mint and full set one whatever the serial instead of focusing on Flat 4 where you will pay a huge premium. If you only want a Flat4 the Y serial is the one to go (F serial less sought).
