Had a chance to talk w/ Mr. Neilson twice as he was flying thru an airport I was working. A very friendly, gracious, funny man.
Surely he can't be gone. He is and I'll stop calling him Shirley.
RIP, sir.

That actually brought a tear to my eye - grew up watching his movies. No matter how bad your mood was, Airplane would always make you laugh... Naked Gun is the true daddy of slapstick - these movies coming out nowadays are just trying to live up to it. Seemed like a real nice gentleman from all the interviews I have seen - this is a huge loss... R.I.P., Mr Nielsen (Shirley)

For once, a celebrity death that actually made me sad. In a world that desperately needed a funny man, he was just the thing.

There were a few that come to mind in recent times : George Harrison, Dean Martin, "Francis Albert", Tammy Wynette (yeah, I was a unabashed fan), but this is definitely one that makes me sad as well.

Very clever Dan!

I think Airplane! was his funniest movie.

I'll miss his unique brand of humor and his delivery and timing were impeccable.

RIP Leslie.

Yup, for anyone who grew up in Canada, Leslie was a very familiar figure.
Long before "Airplane" and his second career as a comedic actor, he appeared in multiple TV series and films as a serious actor. He was a regular on the CBC for decades, a familiar face to every Canadian of my age or older, may he rest in peace.

He will definitely be missed. I remember watching the Naked Gun movies growing up. Later on he went to star in Spy hard, Wrongfully Accused, etc.

Defiantly one of my top favorite actors :(

Agreed, he was one of a kind. RIP Frank Drebin, you were the best movie cop ever.

He even made Monday Night Football funny.
