Anyone wearing a 34mm aquanaut?
Hey friends,
I'm in the market and to be completely honest, I can't afford the modern 41mm aquanaut however I have a tiny wrist (16 cm) and feel that 41mm will be a bit big for my liking. I've been looking at the 5064a-001 and understand this originally is a women's watch but hoping to see if anyone here wears this size and can share your thoughts/pictures. I am having a difficult time finding any pictures of this size on a wrist. Any comments are appreciated, especially insights since I'm not sure any store in Houston would have this old model for me to try on. |

You'd be able to pull off a 34mm Calatrava w silver or opaline dial but a 34mm Aquanaut will look too small IMO due to the wide bezel and small black dial.
Both a wide bezel and a dark dial color make a watch look smaller for a given case diameter than a narrow bezel and light dial color. Interestingly, my 40mm 5711 blue does not wear dramatically larger than my 34mm Calatrava w silver dial. Larger yes, but less so than one might think. |

Thanks for the comment. I currently wear a 36mm datejust with a white face and it fits perfectly. I was considering that 2mm is tiny and might not make a big difference.

That 34mm Aquanaut will look a lot smaller than your 36mm Rolex. Don't do it unless you have a chance to try it on and make sure you like it.

Is this really a mistake or do people confuse the 5064a as a 36mm instead of a 34mm? |

In my 1999 Patek catalogue the 5064 looks to be the same size as the 5066 which is 35.6mm according to the other current thread here (measured from 10 to 4 I believe, smaller from 12 to 6). Check that other thread for pics.
My wrist is a little less than 17cm and I find the perfect Aquanaut size for me is 38mm although 40mm works as well. |

Hmm is it possible that the 1999 model is slightly larger?

Agree with others. Looked at as I have a Rolex Date (34) which fits perfect but the 34 mm Aquanaut was definitely smaller in appearance.

My 5066 was fine on my wrist, but I am a relatively small guy (5'7"). I will note the difference between 34 and 36 seems exaggerated on the wrist. I would definitely want to try on the smaller size before putting any money down.

I see it reported EVERYWHERE that the quartz model is 34mm. The 5060a and 5066a are always listed as 35.6mm. There is even an illustrated chart online showing all the models, I believe from Patek, and the 5064a is shown to be clearly smaller than the other two. However, I own both the 5064 and 5066. They are 100% exactly the same size (other than the thickness, 5064 is noticeably thinner). But case size, diameter, whatever, they’re exactly the same. Which is 35.6mm 10 to 4. |

I wear a 5066 I like the size. 7.5 wrist. It's vintage 1999 really think it's a design was a field watch for unknown country in the day.

It’s an awesome size, plus if you buy that model you can still buy tons of different straps no problem. They showed me the list, 18 different colors available including khaki green which on the 5167 got to insane prices.
