I posted a thread the other day requesting opinions of the older or newer reference of this model. 75% of the posts weren't very helpful and veered away from the topic at hand. The thread somehow turned into a relentless attack on the watches nickname "Pikachu". Hey...I didn't come up with the name. Maybe the general public should have stuck to the superhero genre like other Rolexes and named it "Wolverine".

Anyway, I decided to pick up this beauty today.

Congrats. So sweet, love that red on the dial with the black trim. Can’t go wrong with any Daytona ever. Enjoy it…

Cheers,

Congrats. What made you get the 116 over the 126. Obviously you went grey for it and there is about a 10k difference at the moment between the 2.

The look of the dial. I just really prefer the black outlined dial markers over the newer reference. It's a sportier appearance which IMO suits watches with the oysterflex strap. The newer glidelock system would have been nice, but it's a non issue for me because the easy link system fits me perfectly.

You are lucky. I do like the old dial too. I like the new one for the clean look. For me I needed the glide lock so my choice was already made. I owned the 116518 but could not get a proper fit. You have a Beautiful watch. Wear in good health.
