Minor imperfections on Zaratsu polishing 44GS case.
I have had a few Grand Seikos and recently just bought one with a 44GS case. I have noticed the high polished areas on this watch (flat like surfaces) do have visible micro scratches under certain lighting. The scratches are uniform, so it was probably marks from the polishing machine. My question is, is this normal for this type of specific watch cases? My 62GS and Omiwatari style cases are polished to mirror like finishes but those cases do not have many flat areas compare to the 44GS.

Zaratsu is great, but I’ve been able to find swirls on different GS watches in certain lights and at certain angles.

You need to accept fine swirls and hairlines on these Zaratsu-polished cases, especially 44GS cases with those huge lugs. Even wiping them with a super soft micro fiber cloth can leave hairlines sometimes.
Doesn’t bother me though. I’m not examining my GS watch under a microscope all of the time, and the overall impression of the case is that it still gleams with a beautiful mirror-like finish. |
