Anyone else sick of the sob stories? Pro tip inside

If you’ve got a good relationship with your ad, you shouldn’t have a problem getting what you want. You might have to wait a little but they’ll be thinking about you every time something nice comes in.

If you’re not spending money at your ad, you’ll never get a call, go fish.
If you think buying 1 watch every 2-5yrs is gonna get you a popular ss model, go fish.
If you think you’re on a wait list, and have no credibility at your ad, go fish.
If they don’t know your name or text/call you on watches you could be interested in, go fish.

It costs money to play this game or you’ll never win it.

For those that don’t think this.... This is the game now.

Only problem with this "game" is it has no way for someone to know they have finally won and know the game is over.

Hmm . . . my AD hasn't treated me like that.

Guess they're not in "the game."

Funniest nonsense I have read all day, but true.

Whatever Happened to the Good Old Days?

Go to a store, See something you like, You buy it.

Now, Spend lots of money with me and I might pull a watch out of hiding and let you buy it for many thousands more.

We sure are lucky.

So true!!

I'm sure there a few ADs around that still follow the "traditional" list for in demand models, but with so many loosing their AD status many of the remaining ADs are in the "game" right now. I find this especially true in major markets. If you are not in the "game" and you think you are on the list, think twice!! I didn't finally get a Pepsi, Sub-Date, and SS Daytona in the last 3 months sitting on the list without figuring out how the game is played.

Not everyone has access to a local AD though OP. I for one am fortunate enough to live in a community with a solid AD that caters to the local clientele.

But consider the people who live outside of major cities and suburbs. It’s inconvenient or downright impossible for them to build a relationship because the nearest AD is hours away. Or what about people who’s nearest AD is located in a high traffic area like the Las Vegas strip.

I can decidedly state from personal experience over the last 2 months (at least in Spain) that the OP's truth has not been the case for me at all. All of the SS sports Rolexes I have purchased over the last 10 weeks came with no prior purchase history whatsoever at any of the five different AD's. Longest wait while on a list was 10 weeks (at an AD I'd never visited, just called to get on the list). Be local first, and it doesn't hurt to be likable. If you want to climb the ladder to the really hot pieces after initial purchase history, then you add the 3rd L, be lucrative (buy more often than most). In my experience, anything up to a black Sub Date can be had without the third L. Anything above that such as a GMT, Daytona, SkyDweller, etc you'll probably need that to move things in your favor more quickly.

I dont like fish....I think your post is a little cynical.....i think been respectful and perhaps chatting about something other than red hot models with the ad may help.....having said that ive got every thing ive wanted up to blnr but the 126710 and ss daytona have been extremely difficult....went grey on the pepsi and still waiting for the daytona.

You don't have to beg, Matt. And you don't have to tie your self-respect to the process of getting what you're after. That's just ego. Massaging the system a bit does get you what you want much sooner than others who want the same but are not working towards the goal of having it allocated to them. I understand the ego and where it comes from, but I can assure you the results of putting aside that ego are remarkable in what everyone seems to be calling the worst shortage ever. I'm not experiencing any shortage at all. But if you prefer to wait 6-12 months, I will respect that. I rather prefer the 1-2 month results I'm getting consistently.

You got that right! The annuity company bainbridge has a TV commercial using the Dutch tulip bulb craze and at the end one guy says “why these insane prices it’s just a tulip”. That’s when the bubble bursts, when the speculators are the only potential buyers left. I suggest Omega or IWC as alternative choices for people interested in a watch. If you want to speculate, don’t buy a steel sports Rolex at 2x MSRP....that’s a recipe for disaster because bubbles always burst. After the burst, it may take years for watch buyers to come back because Rolex will have lost their price stability. Les Montres Rolex will have nobody to blame other than their greedy ADs, and their failure to see the power of internet commerce.

Well you know the saying....Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he can get any SS Rolex he wants
