Two superb watches, both with the Time Zone facility and identical 3186 movements now with the Blue Parachrome spring......and that's where the similarity ends!!

On the one hand we have the stunning and more expensive GMT-IIC with the Ceramic bezel, so easy to handle, the more solid and improved bracelet and clasp as well as the Maxi dial and TRIPLOCK crown!!

On the other hand, we have the much cheaper and more affordable version of the 3186 movement - the now famous Explorer-II which is available in WHITE or BLACK dials. One of the most comfortable Rolexes out there at just 125 grams, this baby can do almost all that his above kissing cousin can, except rotate his bezel!!

The bracelet has hollow links and the clasp is still the same old one (now with a secure lock), but it certainly seems to serve the purpose and is still immensely strong!!

Something about the white dial Exp II calls to me. The GMT IIC is sexy too though. Sigh. I gotta stop looking at posts with photos.

JJ I'm the same but different......only one of mine has the 3186 movement and neither has yellow Gold.........still brilliant pieces and so much to love about either....great travelling partners!!....I have even managed to fit a Jubilee to my Exp. but like you I'd love one now for my GMT

A good comparison JJ......
Only thing is the comparison stops with the movement...!!! Both have the same function,but completely different in looks!!!!
The Exp has a sharp clean look and the GMT is the refined,elegant big brother!!
Just my opinion,I love both,but one is leaps and bounds above he other!!!
Again,congrats on the new Rolex JJ!!

Agreed JJ..... IMHO the Exp II is THE MOST COMFORTABLE modern Rolex out there.

Like I said in my PM to you, I carried out the wiggle and 8-hour jump with one full revolution of the crown tests as you had shown me when you were here - both tests came up aces!!!

Hi Gerardo,

Secure lock is just the normal flip over clip that slots into place after you've locked down the clasp.

Correct, but the Sub's bracelet is actually called the OYSTER FLIPLOCK because of the extension diver links!!
