Who likes TT?!?!

Well maybe me.

I was interviewing candidates for a job this week and happened to notice one gentleman wearing a TT Sub (bluesy!) - first Rolex I've encountered while interviewing in 20 years of management. Now I've never been a big fan of TT watches principally because I've never thought that YG complimented my skin tone (I like cooler colors). So here's this guy wearing a nice gray suit (properly fitted), light blue shirt, and red/blue stripped tie with a bluesy. You know what? He was very distinguished looking! Mind you he still would have looked that way even with a RADO but the glint of gold/blue really went well with the blue shirt and the steel went well with the gray suit. One could tell that he put some effort into the details. Really looked like a class act and exuded an impression of success.

Am I going to run out and get a TT watch now? Probably not but I definitely see the allure now. In case you're wondering I did extend a job offer but not because of the watch although it sure didn't hurt him. Oh and I was wearing my Daytona but we never discussed watches.

I wish you were interviewing me a few weeks back. I was going for an interview for a job that was a good step up and thought these guys had class so I went in with my air-king on thinking to myself this is a good interview watch. Well the whole group had Timex or some other plastic type watch walmart style $9.99 rack and I saw more stares at my watch then pencil pushing about what I had to say. Did not get the job in the end. oh well.

I dont know what you mean by "better value" but on a TT sub you pay around 4000 $ for a few grams of YG

Ss

I wore TT datejust for 20 some years when I wore suits everyday. I used to change dials every few years when it was easy. 12 years ago i went into business for myself and was tired of looking at my TT. Switched to SS and never looked back. Current watch is SS DJ 116234.

For interviews I would recommend (depending on the job) a dress watch - not to thick and with a leather strap. One candidate, a few years back, wore a JLC MUT on a strap. Most people wouldn't have noticed but I took note and gave him a job... hmmm, I seem to have a bias towards people with good taste in watches but I guess it says something about the person professionally as well.

I also interviewed (and rejected) a guy wearing a HUGE watch on the outside of his sleeve, another guy with a diamond tennis bracelet, and someone prominently twirling his Montblanc pen. It was a rough week...

I have a TT GMT II and a TT Daytona. The TT is perfect for the office and off work wear too. Dressy but casual but not too casual and not too dressy. They are Rolexes greatest value. Best regards, Brian

I only have 1 x TT watch. It is a 16613 TT blue Sub. I think the colours work really well together. All the rest are SS.

I never owned a TT watch, and never thought I'd like any of them. But then I saw the TT GMTIIC in the flesh, and I got hooked. I'm still not a fan of TT watches with white, MoP, gold or blue dial, but the black dial + black ceramic bezel + TT look astonishes me. However, I'm still unsure whether I could pull off a TT watch, considering I'm a very casual dresser (T-shirt + jeans, T-shirt + shorts, no suit or shirts)...

JJ's picture above doesn't help me to convince myself that I don't need a TT GMTIIC
