Doxa anyone?
Just wondering if anyone had any experience with them? Have my eye on a "Caribean" 1000T. Like I need another watch.
Thanks to TRF I'm becoming a hopeless "WIS" |

I like the look for some of the Doxa models, mostly the ones that do not have an orange face, however, they seem to lose value quickly. They do have a lengthy history making dive watches though.

I have a DOXA sub 100T Professional (orange face) COSC. I was a little disappointed with the chain mail bracelet. The rubber strap will not fit the watch at all. I got tired of it and bought a new Rolex 16610.
The DOXA looses six seconds a day. The Rolex gains one second a day. |

I can't find a single DOXA I like. They look like they are trying too hard to be retro...

Doxas are very cool IMO. Retro design ( not trying.... they are) and great history. Build quality is not up to the mid tier luxury watches, but they're not as expensive. Still, they are good solid watches, unique, distinctive. You won't see too many on other peoples' wrists.
For more informative opinions that don't just compare to Rolex, I'd suggest going on to the dive watch forum on watchuseek...or the Doxa forum itself on that website. |

I've got two Doxa, both of the current line-up, nothing from the hey-day of the '70's. I have a 750T Professional (orange dial) and a 1000T DivingStar (yellow dial).
Both are stunning examples of how a non-conformist watch should look. Doxa does have a long(ish) history, and at one point Doxa, Rolex and Omega were all working together to achieve a common goal: the HEV. Doxa released the 300T Conquistador in 1969; Rolex followed suit in 1970/71 with the Sea Dweller. Omega offered the venerable PloProf. Today's Doxa may have some small issues, but Customer Service is not one of them. Go to WUS; read the Dive Watch subforum, and the Doxa forum. Spend some time, and you'll come away with a pretty good knowledge of the watch, the company, and the brand. Would I buy another? Yes, the newly introduced 1200T Sea Rambler has really caught my eye ... |

Thanks Everyone,
I'm still undecided but I'm enjoying the "hunt". |

I have received far more compliments on my DOXA than any other watch I have owned, especially from ladies.
My complaints about it are trivial. I have owned a Omega Seamaster chrono. and a TAG dive watch. I didn't like them either after a while. The only watches I have been 100% over-joyed with have been my two Rollies. |

I too, own a Doxa, the 1200T Pro (orange dial). I've also owned the 750T and the 1000T in the past. These are quality watches with very good stock ETA 2824-2 movements that are decorated to a degree by Doxa. IMO quality is on par with most other watches in their price range.
The big attraction of Doxa is their uniqueness and availability of models to satisfy different wrist sizes and dial color addictions. Although orange is the Doxa trademark, silver, black, yellow, and blue can also be had. These are not fashion watches by any means. They are rugged tool watches that have their roots deep into the '60s and '70s. Doxa also shared the HEV patent with Rolex back then and actually came out with the Sub300T with an HEV before the Sea Dweller. My watch rotation contains Rolex, Omega, Doxa, and Seiko diver models and I enjoy wearing them all.

among all the orange dial dive watches, i think doxa made the best "orange" (shade/tone of the orange color)
but to me, the 750T wears bigger than the number would suggestion. and the 1000T wears smaller than the number would suggestion. the bezel can only be removed via doxa's tool and the polished area on the bezel seems to be pick up scratches easily having said that, i wouldn't mind owning a orange dial 1200T pro myself :p |

I have owned two and I'm not impressed. Both were higer end Doxas and both came straight from the factory running poorly. Both very fast. Doxa gives you a song and dance about "settling in" which is a stall tactic. They don't want to service them for 90 days. I dumped them both and took a beating on them. Never again.
