AP ROC and ROO pics/advice please.
Allright guys,
I am seriously considering either a ROC or ROO as my next purchase if after Basel nothing from Rolex takes my fancy. I am leaning towards a ROC as I feel it will wear a little better for me due to size. I will be buying pre owned, just checked Blowers in UK and they always have a few in stock, is there anywhere else in the UK that is a reliable source? Also any AD's in the Asia area that may offer a good discount? What in general is a good price pre owned. Generally seems to 40%-50% from new? I have searched the board but would like to see some more wrist shots if possible. Thanks for any advice guys. |

Hello mate.
When I bought my ROO Ruberclad I used http://carrdiamonds.com/ very knowledgeable guy and a good deal. They have a shop by Liverpool st station so its easy to pop in have a look at the watches . They only have offshores in stock but they can order in more or less anything you want. |

Don't forget to check out the new releases from SIHH; you may want to wait - check out purists and TZ for more info. 50% ROOs seems a bit ambitious, even for used models.

The ROC is a beauty and i can vouch for Blowers, i've used them a couple of times and they are regarded as about the best dealer in the UK for this sort of thing. There is also www.watches.co.uk who are another huge company, but i don't think they have any ROC's in stock. I know with the exchange rate the UK is a good place to buy just now, but i do see some ROC's going for good prices in the US, it might be worth having a look there or even in the mainland EU as well just to see what the best price is.
Anyway, i hope you get something soon, either the ROC or ROO are nice, although the ROO is a bit bigger and i found it was too big for me unfortunately, but the ROC is perfect for me, especially now i have it on the strap.

Oh yeah, wrist shot to show size, my wrist is about 6.5" so you can see a ROC fits well, the ROO is just a little on the large side, i moved down from a Panerai 233 and 177 to this as they were just a bit uncomfortable due to the size and they dug into my hand, as you can see by the mark left!

Argee, I concur I have used Blowers as well and found them to be excellent. I will wait until after basel and then make a decesion. |

My guess is maybe 40% off new--most likely 35% off of new if you want a real nice LNIB G series or even an F. If getting the Rubber clad--harder to find--still strong in secondary market--13k going rate--14k-14,500k for BNIB. They are not far off of new price--yet below the 20,500 retail!! Here is a shot of my AP ROO Rubberclad--it is a G series from 2/10--BNIB from AD. It is my 3rd AP--highly recommend them-my favorite watch hands down!!

Unfortunately in the UK you won't get deep discounts like that, the main AD's we have for AP are all either in London or quite high end dealers, which tends to mean lower discounts.
If you've used Blowers before then you know that they're pretty good and knowledgeable as well as being very quick with any deals, i have seen both their AP ROC's that they have in stock and have to say i prefer the newer 26300ST they have over the older 25860 with the basic white dial, but i do think the price is a little steep.

I want a ROO but at 6.8 in wrists I am just still unsure
and yes I have tried them on. I also like the RO BUT it will not fill my wants at the moment. Its dressier and I have my dressy grail coming soon!!! It really is a tough choice. The new White and Gray dials on the ROO are simply stunning! My grail ROO would be the 18K RG Rubberclad that is just AMAZING! AP did announce a 37 mm ROO BUT I really think that going to be thought of as a womans watch by most watch people and will likely have a poor resale value (just my 2 cents)

Yeah, i think we have similar tastes, i love the ROO themes and newer ones, not a great fan of the Limited Editions as they're a bit over the top. Unfortunately like you i have a skinny wrist and the ROO is just too big, i moved down from Panerai because it was too much watch for my wrist and the ROO is too much as well. The 37mm ROO is a bit of a head scratcher for me, the ladies ROO is 40mm, it is a cross between the ROO and ROC, but with the 37mm ROO coming in it is basically smaller than the ladies version, but is stated as being for men? I think the ROC is a little dressier, but if you put it on a sporty strap then i'd think it would look good, especially the sportier dials such as the newer white with black sub-dials, it would definitely look like a sports watch then. Edit to add a picture of the new ROC dial with a rubber strap, it does make it look sportier, the image is MichaelC off Timezone, if he's a member on here it would be nice to see some more like it as i think this dial does make the ROC look more of a sports watch than others.

Hope you're well. Which ladies ROO is 40mm? All of those I know are 37mm. Thanks!

You are right Howard, i should have been saying it the other way around, i was hoping for a 40mm ROO myself, although to be fair i'm starting to doubt whether the ROO would be a problem on some smaller wrists after seeing a couple lately! It's definitely a hard one to decide, 5 minutes in an AD might not be the best way to do it, but i have to say after speaking to a couple of fellow small wristed people the ROO Rubberclad might actually work

It's the thing that gets me most about this watch malarky, a year ago i hated the look and design of the Rubberclad, i thought it was just daft having a rubber coated bezel, but slowly but surely they grow on you, those watches that never even make your top ten list suddenly fill it in later years It was the same thing with the PAM 140, i thought gold watches were too bling, but then i found myself in an AD, handing over my bank card and walking out in a trance with a new watch!

Enjoy the first of all Offshores!
This watch is the one that started the Offshore phenomenon. I love this model more than any other out there. Classic, sporty, sturdy and timeless. In my opinion it will never look dated. Ref. 25721ST.00.1000ST.01

For AP watches this is a very good guy. Bought from him myself and he is 100% trustable. Well known on the dutch and german rolex forum:
http://www.kroonwatches.com/?pagina=1 (if the roc or roo you are looking for, i'll bet he can get his hand on it.. for the best price on the net..) Best regards, Michiel |
