Spoke to my AD today...
At my AD today, and asked him if he had heard anything about any new models that maybe coming out after Basel 2010. He said, the ceramic Sub is a cert, but he told me to buy a Sub LV as it was going out of production, and they can't make green ceramic. Or he said, buy an Explorer I or Explorer II, as they will not be made either. I said, does that mean they are going to make a bigger Explorer I or upgrade the Explorer II, he said he didn't know. I said i wanted a new GMT Pepsi ceramic but i commented and said, "If they can't make the green bezel for the new Sub then there is not much chance of a new Pepsi GMT. Basel 2010 cant come quickly enough, its so frustrating not knowing !

Just a couple of more weeks....
I don't see any reason at all why they wouldn't come out with a green ceramic........ I doubt that we will see any two color ceramics though... but here too, they could pin two halves together if they really wanted to go that route........ I'd be surprised to see the Explorer in 40mm.... not sure where that rumor started from.......

I'm not buying the Explorer I update rumour either but one for the II is definitely on the cards. Do people think that Rolex would give us two new SS sport watches in the same year or leave the Explorer II until next year? I really want a white dialled ceramic Explorer II.

They might never go to a block case with this model though (I hope)... But it and the Yachtmaster are the only models that are still not 11xxxx referenced.

If you look at Blancpain's website or talk to dealers, samples of clear and colored ceramics have been created. Unfortunately, they are all solid color or translucent. I believe the best Rolex can do now is to make a clear ceramic bezel with multi-colored inlays.

I highly doubt they will be pinning any 2 halves together. It will look kind of silly or not very solid by doing so. Kind of incomplete/unprofessional as well. I think it will be a while until we see the next ceramic pepsi/coke bezels for the GMT. For now, I guess we need to stick with the non-ceramic if we want those bezels unless you go for one of the precious stone bezels or aftermarket.

If the Explorer II is discontinued like the rumors are saying, the hype must get started for the Explorer II's w/ 3186. Come on guys, they are much rarer than the GMT's, probaby in the thousands, unlike the GMT's w/ 3186 in the tens of thousands.

Seriously doubt htey'll make an LV. Right now the big differences are the maxi dial and gren bezel which a lot change to black. If the new Sub has the maxi dial, any bezel swap would make an LV out of any Sub. Now if they made a green dial...

You can't but admire the dealer's selling techniques.

Exactly. I have no idea what will come out of Basel, but creating the perception of scarcity is a consistent part of the Rolex selling approach.

I have to agree with the above. There is a lot of sellers hype out there right now.
In addition, I would not be surprised if the LV goes the way of the dodo. As for the the EXPII there will probably be some changes. My guess is most of the changes will be on Rolex's bling-bling side. You know....more jewelled up GMTII's and Daytonas with animal print straps.

Plenty of speculation, especially surrounding the LV, Explorers and a date Daytona - but no one knows for sure.
All will be revealed in a couple of weeks' time - and even then, I'm sure speculation will continue...after all, if not this year, then maybe next year, or if not, then the next... |

Highly doubt the LV for the new ceramic sub. At least not for a couple of years IMO. I agree with Larry. Supercase EXP II with fixed metal bezel, trip lock, solid center links (non polished), with new clasp.

I agree. I think the LV is gone.
But I think it's time to do something about the YM. I also think the Daytona is ready for an update. To me it seems it's not as popular as it used to be so my guess is Rolex will give it a facelift to regain it's staus: Bigger case, possibly a date and maybe a ceramic bessel.

I doubt they would dicsontinue any of the explorers, there is a reason why they have been around for so long. On the other hand, an update for the exp2 might be on the cards, but I also doubt it as they have only just started rolling out the 3186 versions. Why bother when you're updating it later anyway? Exp1 has not really changed much since it first came out, they would be playing with fire if they made any big changes to that. Perhaps just movement updates? Or perhaps Para springs all round?
