It’s 1958 Again…Thanks to Mr. Ridley
It feels like 1958 and I just received a brand new 5508 Submariner.
I sent it out to Mr. Bob Ridley in January and received it back just this morning: Whilst with Mr. Ridley, the 5508 received the following: Clean oil and regulate the movement Autowind- rotor, reversers, gib Case tube Period crown (with Brevet “+” ) Crystal Hands- cover faults and seal Mainspring Refinish case and band Repair setting mechanism- side pinion set wheel Seals Spring Bars Crystal retainer ring Restore case gasket wall I’ll let the pictures do the talking: As received: Case before repair: Case after repair Movement before service: Back of Case after repair: Movement after service: New period correct crown installed: After completion: Thanks for letting me share my excitement and many thanks Mr. Ridley! |

Nice outcome. How long did it take to find the NOS crown and tube?
Can you share any history of the watch? Looks great. |

Bob Ridley sourced the crown and tube. Unfortunately I don't have/know the history of the watch. I purchased it this past January, from a reseller, then sent it off straight away to Bob Ridley for servicing/restoration. |

I know that this is reviving a very old thread, but I have been browsing and have come up with a query relating to this watch. I can see that the movement is a 1530 but that the regulator is a stick type. Now I thought that all 1530s had microstellar regulation and that it was the 1520s that had stick regulation; am I missing something here?
