The Speedmasters that have failed the water test.
I hear everyone that everyone wishes and thinks the Speedmaster Pro fails when it comes to water.
Post your water failed Speedmaster here. I don't think it exists in a large scale. My Speedmaster has never ever failed at water resistence. Pools, swiming, diving, and whatever. I believe the Speedmaster is underated in being waterproof. NASA asks a lot and will not give less than perfection. The BS stops now. Who's Speedmaster has not proven to be waterproof? 30M, 50M I don't care. It does and has not leaked unless it hasn't been serviced since 1969.

I've seen people who think they are engineers to calculate the pressure from a shower to moving your arm in water and I want to see how many Speedmaster Pros have leaked in real life time. I think less than 1%. If you haven't serviced it since 1969 I understand why it leaked. If it was serviced right I want to see what hasn't performed. I bet less than 1%. I will take a high pressure shower now with my Speedmaster and I bet it will not leak.

I've been a computer engineer since 12. I put my shower on the highest setting and my Speedmaster Pro is still not flooded. Your calculations are wrong. I firmly believe even though rated at 50m for a modern Speedmaster that the water resistence is way higher than that. NASA is not retarted. You can absolutely get a Speedmaster wet with no fear if the seals are up to date.

The BS stops here. I here a lot of not wanting it to get wet with a lot of no proof it leaks. The Speedmaster Pro does not leak. Only if you did not maintain it will it leak.

My 45-year old Speedy Pro has never been water damaged although I do not swim with it.

Hmm i think Chad is not really convince that speedy is a water resistant watch. I suppose its not a Seamaster but u can test its water resistance easily by using a jet wash high pressure rinse for when your are washing your car. Its like killing two birds w one stone. Clean car and clean speedy pro. Once uve done this, u wont let your 'other' self doubt its water resistance ever again.

Please enllghten me here.
What is the BAR rating for a Speedmaster with the acrylic glass? I would guess 5 is enough to swish it around under a tap for a clean once in a while? Anyway I would've thought anyone with a Speedmaster which is/was built and designed for aeronautics and space would take it off before ablutions and think twice before swimming or snorkeling with it on their wrist. Wearing it in a hot shower? Nearly as incomprehensible as a guy I read who put his Submariner in his dishwasher. I would love to own a Speedy BTW, a fantastic piece of history, but it would only be worn on special occasions, certainly not in an aqua environment. Last edited by TARDIS; 18 July 2010 at 02:53 PM..
