Just been 'tire kicking' a 14060m at my local AD

Just went to check out a sub in my local Maplin &Webb. I haven't handled that many Rolexs before but I am still amazed at how light the no-date sub feels. I was comparing it to the Speedy Pro which is my everyday watch at the moment so that may count for something. I guess its just a shame we cant buy watches by weight otherwise it would be a bargain...

It's clean and classic. Both my wife and I wear the 140606M. I have both SEL and non SEL Subs, and prefer the lightness of the non SEL. Enjoy your shopping!!

Don't be fooled by the lightness of the subs.. Originally it was the light feel of the bracelet and clasp that put me off subs and steered me to a GMT2c. Recently bought an LV and in all honesty I can't bare to go a day wthout wearing it.. Classic Sub look and extremely comfortable..

The Sub is such a light watch compared to my two Seamasters - one can almost forget you are wearing it. I love my 16610 but am very tempted to get a 14060M and put it on a NATO strap.

Great watch!

I did the same exact thing when I firt put the Sub on...I can probably find my post here, haha. I also went from a Speedy Pro and an SMP to the Sub. I couldn't believe how light it was. From wearing Omega, I always thought that heavy meant quality. Not the case, weight has nothing to do with it. The 14060M is super comfortable. You'll never look back if you decide to pick one up.

It's a great watch! I just received my first Rolex, a 14060M, yesterday, and it's better than I hoped it would be. After coming from Omegas, I was looking forward to the lightness of the Sub.

For what it's worth, I checked all of the ADs in my hometown, and none was able to order a new 14060M...they all said it was discontinued.

It was my first Rolex that I purchased in February. I have looked at ALL the different Rolex models and researched their historys, specs, etc and I believe it is probably as perfect of a watch as you will find. You will not go wrong with the 14060M.

Just bought one of these myself on Monday hence my low post count. First Rolex.

I'm not a fan of of the cyclops and loved the clean look of this model Its also a nice departure from the big clunky stuff I've been wearing

I prefer a lighter weight watch....in fact I miss those old rattly folded links oyster bracelets I have on my 70's vintage Rolexes, makes the watch even lighter....you don't feel them on your wrist!!!

I'd been wearing an Omega SMP for many years as my daily wearer when I bought my Sea Dweller. I first thought the bracelet on the SD was flimsy & was intially a bit disappointed. Now the SD is my daily wearer - now the bracelet being lighter\ finer is more attractive to me than the Omega once I started wearing it

I see you mentioned the AD by name - if you are thinking of taking plunge - might want to look about for 0% finance deals from other AD's

I went with the 16610 date sub over the 14060M because if I want to wear a light watch I wear my Omega SMP..... but it is the titanium version though

However, for this very reason, it's not up to daily wear use, because there's buggar all shock resistance with the titanium.....hence buying the 16610 for my daily.

The 14060M is a great watch with classic looks and it seems to be selling like hotcakes based on how long it took mine to come in to the AD after I ordered it and the number of new ones that have shown up on the board very recently.

WHat kind of problems had you had with shock resistance on your SMP ti??

Just curious as my 2231 blew the hairspring and I cannot figure out why. I don;t understand how case material would affect shock resistance, though.

There definitely seems to be a rising tide of interest in this watch. Maybe Rolex better pay attention to us guys that what a wee bit smaller (better proportioned???) and lighter watch than the big massive chunks of steel that have been rolling off the lines lately.

I bought my 14060M almost three years ago and it's one of the best purchases I've ever made. But I will say my heart belongs to my GMT Pepsi.....for now!!!

Well the center links on the band are hollow so that's definitely one of the reasons why it feels light. Plus I think the Speedy Pro is just heavier and bulkier to begin with - another reason why it feels lighter than the Omega.
