Anyone seen a Speedmaster like this?

If you notice the pictures, there is a silver looking ring around the hesalite crystal. I've seen many Speedmasters but this is the first. I've contacted the seller and he told me that the crystal was previously polished and the reflections changed. Does anyone have any insight on this? Any input is greatly appreciated.
