"Then we will fight in the shade...."

Said by Dionikus, Lieutenant of King Leonidas at the battle of Thermoplye in 480 BC, when a Persian officer, suggesting the Greeks surrender because the Persians had so many archers their arrows will: "Blot out the sun".

footnote: Acording to Haraditus, the historian we get our information from, the ACTUAL quote was: "Good, then we will have our battle in the shade" (Dionikus referring to how hot it was). Over years it got changed, or misquoted or whatever, to the most repeated version: "Then we will fight in the shade." (Hey, I was a Classical Studies minor in College, did my senior Thesis on this battle).

Excellent! Said by King Leonidas' wife as he was leaving for the battle.

Here's another:

At the begining of the battle, the Persian General, trying one last time to get the Spartans to Surrender, yells out: "Spartans!, Lay down your weapons"

To which King Leonidas replies:

"Persians, Come and get them!"

GOD I just love this stuff!!!!!!

I told my wife that a husband is like a fine wine; he gets better with age. The next day, she locked me in the cellar.
