Ladies' First Rolex :)
I'd like to purchase my first Rolex and am trying to do some research before hand. I haven't found the Rolex website itself very easy to navigate in terms of viewing all the varieties of models available. I think I've narrowed it down to a lady datejust in stainless with a jubilee band, fluted bezel and a grey (silver?) face with stick numbers (please forgive me if my terminology isn't exactly right; I'm still learning!). Is that a good choice for a first (maybe only) Rolex? My goal is something conservative, timeless, something that will last for a long time. Thoughts on whether this is a good choice?
I also have some questions about model numbers. I've been looking online at pre-owned models and I've seen both 69174 and 69160. They both look the same to my uneducated eye! Is the difference that one has a white gold bezel and the other has stainless? Is there an advantage to the white gold bezel? What else should I be looking at, thinking about? Thanks!!! |

That would be very nice. For my wife's first we purchased her a TT Oyster bracelet. The Oyster bracelet is not as popular for a ladies DJ but it is in my opinion more durable and less common. You my want to look at that option.
Welcome, stick around and let us know what you end up with. |

Thank you, Art! I like the oyster bracelet, but to me, the jubilee bracelet is iconic.
What about model numbers? Thoughts on buying second-hand? |

I think your choice is perfect. I got my wife the women's TT DJ with jubilee and gold face. Those watches are really timeless and are a pretty good sport watch, as well.
I like all the face options. You might consider the black face if you want to make it a bit more sporty. I also like the white face with roman numerals. I believe the jubilee is a better fit for dressier models and the smaller links are my choice for a women's DJ. Good luck. |

The jubilee wears very comfortably on the wrist. I personally would think that the oyster would be more durable though. Have you visited an AD to try some on? There are small and mid sized models and many ladies prefer a man's watch like a Daytona or a Sub.
I would say to try some on at the dealers and if you cannot negotiate a good deal, purchase here from one of the long time sellers. Ask lots of questions...folks here will step up and help you out! |

Thank you, very helpful! I had thought I wanted to keep it simple, but oh man, those diamonds are stunning in combination with the MOP face. Wow! That is one of the things I like best about this forum. The pictures are excellent!
