Ugh....I just can't do it. Anyone else, can't bear to let one go????

I have a IIc. It hasn't been worn in a couple/three months. It is mint. It had some very minor swirls on the bracelet and I had it professionally polished back to like new. The case has never had a mark. I see watches I want and I'm about ready to send an email saying I have a IIc in truly mint condition and I just can't hit the ______ send button.

I can't explain it. I don't really care for the IIc much, but I can't seem to let it go.

Maybe it is b/c I bought it brand new from the AD. I don't know. Anyone else like me? Have a watch they don't particularly want, but cannot let it go?

I mean, I even kept all the stickers!

Mick...Cannot say I have a watch I don't want but cannot let go.

However...I will bet that you will regain your love for that beauty in a few months of non-wearing. I could be wrong, but that's my belief.

Love / covet that watch, but since I am on a "diet" for a reason you know...I shall be resigned to admiring from a distance!

Diet. Me too, but somehow I'm still finding a way to shop.

I've only listed it on CL and I've had one decent offer, but I'm hesitating...

Then, there is a watch on TZ that I want and the guy says he wants a IIc in great condition. Should be a no brainer, but I just can't tell him I have one.....

I just let go a v serial gmtIIc last month, it was hard but it has allowed me to pursue a watch more suited for me, so I'm over it.

Mik, I went through the exact same thing...got close to selling a watch twice, even had offers, and then I changed my mind....couldn't let it go. After putting it aside for a couple of months, it hit me one day that I was ready to part with it....and I did! No regrets for me. I just had to be 100% sure and it took me a while to get there.

Give it more time. You'll know one way or another whether you should let it go.

Thanks for that Karis. I think I'll have to do that. Looks like I'm not ready.

Don't worry about it...not worth the stress. The watches you own are meant to bring you nothing but pleasure and enjoyment!

Sadly for me it has gotten easier, I have sold almost a dozen watches in the last few years. For the most part, each of the watches I have sold, can be replaced, which makes me feel better.

Letting go of my Omegas was pretty tough but it allowed me to get a Sub and GMT without having to spend months saving for them. I love and wear my two Rolex watches equally and just couldn't ever let them go. Trouble is I am now looking at Omega again ... but my Rolex watches are most definately staying put!

Are you sure you don't secretly love it?

I would sit on it for a few more months just to be sure, with the prices rises imminent I don't think you'll risk losing any resale value.

Just out of interest, I have recently bought one of these and cannot fault it, what is putting you off?

Mik, I just flipped mine for a Coke 16710 and I don't regret it a bit. The 116710 was my first Rolex and I had it for three years; great watch, but it was time to move on. I love the older style GMT-Masters, and if I ever really feel like I made a mistake (doubtful), I'll just get another IIc. I guess I just got tired of the shiny bits, while simultaneously coming to appreciate more and more the older cases.

Nope you are CRAZY just kidding, I have another thread "AM I CRAZY" because I am debating getting rid of my Sub C... I have a Black Sub C, Green Sub C and a GMT C and I just dont need all 3... Problem is when I put it on I just cannot bear to let it go.

Even though I can replace it at anytime I just cannot seem to sell it... who knows maybe we are both nuts

I would keep it for a bit longer and see what you think, if you still have the same feelings sell the damn thing and get something you will enjoy

Great advice! I hesitated for months, wrestling with the idea of selling watches that had lost their shine for me, and then it dawned on me that the watches in question were getting zero wrist time and all I was doing was running down their warranties which only diminished their resale values.

Once sold, I never looked back - swapped them for models that I wear all the time and couldn't be happier.

I know what you mean. I did sell and LV and knew right away it was a mistake so I bought another. I sold a Milguass and have not missed it at all.

Pretty much spot on. I love my 16610 (old style sub) for the reasons you like the traditional GMT II.

Well there's something holding you back, man. I personally wouldn't let the fact that you bought it at an AD stop you. That can always be done. That's how I buy my Rolex's....and I keep the stickers, too. Whatever the case, my two pennies say that if it's not being worn then it's not being enjoyed and if it's not being enjoyed then it's dead weight in the collection.

Good luck, my friend!

good luck with the decision.... for me, it's hard to let go my gmt iic as it was my first rolex.... it has that sentimental value for me, but who knows in the future i might swap it with other grail... :)

Actually, I was looking to another brand or two. The Panerai and Rolex I really want are too much money for my budget.

I know exactly how you feel, it's pre-seller's remorse. Think about it carefully and weigh the pros and cons before you do it.

I know exactly how you feel. When I'm wearing my Exp-II, I feel like selling the Sub, as the Explorer is the only watch I need and I would be perfectly happy wearing it every day.

Then, every now and then, I put the Sub on for a day or two, and I can't imagine what life would be like without it.

stop looking at it and move it along if you are looking to upgrade to something you like more...otherwise I would set it away for a while and see what you think then.....
