PEPSI Time!
As many of you have read my wife was in Germany
![]() The insert swap was a breeze using the tutorial on TZ. ![]() The 16710 has got to be the most versatile Rolex ever made. Changing the bezel makes for a completely new look. Anyway, hope you enjoy the pics. dP

I consume coke as a beverage, how ever for my watches it would be Pepsi all the way. Your GMT II looks very beautiful. You have a very nice wife.

it's interesting.. I ordered the Pepsi bezel for my GMTII at the weekend.. I already have the other 2 bezels for my GMT and was really pleased when I swapped the black bezel for the Black/red last year.. can't wait to try out the Pepsi when it arrives in a week or so...
yours looks great... |

I like the original too
Nice swap my friend, was it tricky to do? Does the spring go flying across the room when you lift the bezel? I fingured that the bezel would be very hard to life off, one of the tutorials shows a screwdriver (!!
![]() Anyways, I love the Pepsi, which is how I bought my GMT. I must admit the GMT is getting more wrist time than the SD. Its a very comfortable, functional watch, and with the Pepsi bezel, it has an unusual amount of colour for a Rolex (well, compared to the pre-Basel 2007 offerings....) I too would entertain the idea of doing out a bezel swap from time to time, see how the all black looks, etc. The more I wear the Pepsi, though, the better I like it. Wear yours in good health! I find that blue-red transition at 06:00 is cool because these days at Eastern Standard Time at about 06:00, if you look outside you'll see the morning horizon looks like the red/blue transition at 06:00 on the Pepsi, blue and red horizons as dawn pushes away the night. A good, classic design that does today what it was designed to do for those PanAm pilots decades ago............... I should add that as of 2007, the GMT II 16710 Pepsi (and burgundy-black) are no more, being phased out for the new SS ceramic black bezel GMT. Best, Chris |

Hi Dan;
I too have the GMT-II and use the black bezel insert in the winter (it's a little more formal looking) and the Pepsi insert in the summer when everyone is feeling a little more colorful. I congratulate you on doing the swap yourself. I take mine to a professional since my eyesight is not as good as it once was. I know that darn ratchet spring is going to jump out if I try this myself. Enjoy your watch, I know I do. |

Update!
After a few inquiries I have to update the bezel swap.
As I stated in the beginning the insert swap was suprsingly easy and fast. The bezel lifted quickly with a screwdriver covered in tape. The spring stayed in place but you have to do it slowly. Everything just like the TZ tutorial. ![]() Then later in the day it seemed there was no click feel to the bezel. ![]() ![]() ![]() The scratches are small ![]() Just when you thing you got it......................... ![]() Oh well, I'd have no trouble doing it again [without scratches] with the right pry tool. Hope this helps, dP

Another Update
I took the GMT II to my watchmaker and in 5 minutes...........bada bing, bada boom........the lug scratches are gone and all is well with the world.
![]() Scratches and marks that accumulate while living life and enjoying your Rolex, totally understandable. Scratches and marks caused by trying to work on your Rolex like a Homer Simpson spice rack ![]() Having a trusted watchmaker close by, priceless. ![]() dP

I see that a bezel change can be done on the GMT. Is this the same for the Subs and the SD? I have measured my SD across the inside of the bezel and it looks the same size as my GMT even though the SD dial looks smaller - Crystal thickness?

While the actual dials are the same, it's the SD case thickness on the inside that is responsible for reducing the size of the dial. So when measured through the crystal, the Sub dial = 30 mm, whereas the SD dial = 28.5 mm JJ

Dan,
Where did you get the bezel? From a SD? How much was it? I have the same watch and would like to change the look of it. Thanks in advance. ![]() Bryan
