Well, maybe it's just me, but when the starting bid is 99 cents, isn't that a big tip off about something?

The watch appears genuine. The date window and date font is correct for this circa Submariner.

Bid is at $3050...no item details mentioned. Makes me wonder how much I can sell mine...

Seller is not going to win any awards for his photographic skills but the watch seems genuine to me .

Nothing appears to be amiss with it, but the seller isn't doing himself any favors with that listing. I once got a steal on a Campagnolo Record groupo due to a seller with a poor listing on eBay. Looks like a few folks are playing that card on this listing.

I am just surprised no one bidding has asked what reference number it is, everyone must be assuming its a 16610 I guess.

As for whether its real or fake, all the information out there says that the #1 way to tell a fake is to look at the date in the cyclops, it should be 2 1/2 times magnification. Clearly this watch on Ebay is not 2 1/2 times magnification, so either Rolex sold a broken watch or its a fake. My guess is that it is a watch from a site like the one listed below that sells a "box set" for $500 http://www.watchez.com/Rolex-Swiss-E...ches-3365.html |

So what is the conclusion
Intrigued by this one. What did you guys conclude if anything. Looks pretty good to me but the magnification is suspect and I don't like the look of the number 4 on the bezel.
But I bow to all the superior knowledge on this forum here! Grahame. |

I looked at the photos again this morning and there is a possibility that the crystal is after-market. It is hard to tell from the photos to make a positive ID on the crystal - at least for me. An aftermarket crystal does not make the watch counterfeit though. I don't see anything else that looks suspect to call the watch a "fake." The box and pillow are also genuine.
