BIG Debate! GMT I /II Pepsi or PAM 112?!!
Hello all!
I know I have created my PAM 112 threads but there is a new dilema at hand! Two watches, I have wanted for a long time are: submariner, and a panerai. As i grew up(and got on this forum) i realized i wanted a pam 112. My first Rolex was the SUB C. Love that watch(thanks for all the help trf!). So i knocked that one off the list, only left was the PAM 112. However, being on this site opened up a new world to me. Now I want a PEPSI GMT or GMTII. Just love multiple options. Here are some questions I pose to fellow members... Which would you pick GMT I/II PEPSI or PAM 112 Currently the best deal I can get is NEW PAM 112 for 4100/4300 or Pre-Owned GMTI/II(i cant remember if its a I or II) for $3200(I could probably bargain down, say 2500-2800). Debating here, because i can send to RSC and get it basically lookin new for another 500-1000. Good deal? SO WHICH WOULD YOU PURCHASE? Thanks for all the help! Some pics(thanks trf members for letting me use the pics!) thanks! |

I personally prefer Coke to Pepsi, but I would definitely choose the GMTII. It is such a classic, timeless design with such a rich and unique history that it is a must have. In addition, purchase a few spare bezel inserts and it is like owning three different watches.

That's a tough one, as I really like both watches.
The Pepsi is one of my favorites of all time. Always wanted one, especially on a jubilee. The 112 is also a great watch, clean and beautiful. I think I would pick up the Pepsi now and send it in for a service. Of course, once Rolex masters the colors in ceramic . . . well, you'll have another to add to your list! |

thanks for all the info.
however, i was talking to a friend of mine and he swayed me on the PAM 112. Since i already have SUB, i should get a different watch, then get the PEPSI. Either one i choose, i will still want the one i dont pick. :( |

I don't understand Panerai at all so I'd get the GMT, but I know many people love the PAM's for some reason I can't explain. Sort of like orange flavored chocolate, I know it has fans since they still make it, I just don't understand why.

I would add my voice to the GMT chorus - but then I am fairly prejudiced in the matter. GMT is an acomplished classic in my view - it has many admirers and few detractors. But, as Paddy says, it's down to you.

I suppose if someone gave me the Panerai I'd accept it (and sell/give it away).
I certainly wouldn't buy one. I like the GMT. |

As already said, in a Rolex forum no one would suggest Panerai.
But what is about this brand ? What are the qualities ? The strenghts ? The benefits ? If it was so good, I would know for sure and I would be in the Panerai forum

A Rolex GMT for $2500-$2800? Where? I'd get two for that price! Given all the attention the older GMTs (black, coke or pepsi) are getting now because they're discontinued, I'd be surprised if you can find one for that kind of money. I could be wrong, but I haven't seen any. And forget finding a 1675 at that price.

I agree you have to get the one you like best however I would choose the Pam The weight/wrist pres. of the GMT is just not there. It is a very comfy watch to wear but does not have alot of weight to it when compared to your Sub C let alone the Pam...
